That story is legit.

There is a little bridge near my house on a state road that was closed for rebuild for six months. I could see the bridge on the detour I took almost every day. In six months they probably worked on the bridge a total of 15 days, if that. This work pattern seems to be consistent throughout the state.

almost one year passed, the project progressed almost none. ironically, people are using north bound lanes, which were announced as in seriously dangerous condition. shame on corrupted PennDOT.

Haha PennDOT is a complete joke as usual. Some things never change!

I pass the construction site on the bus every day and never see much in the way of progress. It would be great if this project could have received the same commitment as the 28 project (ha). I am sure this project would have already been done if this were East Carson, or even West Carson between the Fort Pitt and West End bridges.

I take a route affected by this project almost every day, and was wondering how it was progressing. To my very untrained eye, it doesn't look like much has happened. However, a year is still a long ways away, so maybe it'll all come together. Wishful thinking?

Initially, for the inbound morning commute I was taking Chartiers Ave. to West Carson, but that wasn't such a great option. It was much worse in the winter, when West Carson was littered with potholes that drivers had to carefully maneuver around. Does anyone remember the one right at the end of the construction zone, beneath the West End Bridge? It was a crater, and traffic was ruined for a couple days because of it. Now I take the Corliss Tunnel to West Carson. It's really not that bad anymore.

Outbound is a different story. Outbound is miserable from the Smithfield Street Bridge to just about anywhere. The McKees Rocks bridge is awful. The West End Circle is a joke (THE FAR RIGHT LANE IS A TURNING LANE, PEOPLE). I don't see it getting better any time soon.

Reading about Bike PGH's proposal is a bummer, as I'm a cyclist myself. Getting from the West End to downtown is a pretty scary proposition with traffic as it is. Oh well.

Keep in mind that this road runs along the side of a cliff. They seem to be working on the wall that holds up the road, but it's hard to see from the roadway.

I don't think anyone is working on the bottom of the viaduct/cliff (by the riverside railroad tracks), at least from the busway to the West End bridge. I can see down there fairly well from aboard the G3 and see no activity. I think everything has been confined to the road itself (half of it, at least).

Were they not also going to remove the old railroad trestle and bridge just before the West End circle?

You must not be from around here. Just about everyone I know from this area says "needs done."

Don't know if this will help, but I've had good luck with unresponsive corporations (American Airlines, Brothers' Printers) by posting on their Facebook page. I couldn't get any helpful service when I phoned or emailed American Airlines, but as soon as I posted my complaint on their FB page I got a call from someone fairly senior and got my problem somewhat resolved. Got a free service call that fixed our Bros. printer after months of them sending us new ink cartridges which leaked every time. Turns out they were leaking because something in the printer was cutting them open. Before posting to FB, they wanted to charge us over $100 for the service call. Again, not sure if the state will be as responsive.

Anyway, try PennDOT's FB page for your problem: https://www.facebook.com/Pennsylvani...Transportation
