Yes, the Gemini Spa was in an old building where Morton's is today.

Did Sun Drug morph into cvs? Here's a whole bunch of old downtown (not 1975) photos:

It was Revco after Sun Drugs.

edited to add: what was that restaurant on the corner? Stouffer's? Palmer's - or was that later?

what was the old building? I can remember the Woolworth's where the Heinz Hall garden is, but don't remember the building next to it at all.

There were a series of buildings, similar to those on Liberty east of 8th Street where the CNG Tower/Morton's sits today- just east of Woolworths.

In that block there was a Brass Rail, the Deluxe Arcade pinball joint, the Gemini, the Penthouse I & II porno multiplex where the "II" showed GLBT films.

Revco had nothing to do with Sun. The Sun's became Eckerd's during Eckard's first entry into the Pittsburgh market. When Eckerd pulled out, they became Brook's stores. Eckerd returned when they acquired Thrift Drug. Revco acquired White Cross sometime in the early 70's. It's pretty much a three man race now, with Walgreen's, Rite Aid, and CVS having absorbed all of the other regional chains.

Palmer's was in the Frank and Seder Bldg, opposite Kaufmann's and not visible in the photo.

The restaurant at Forbes & Smithfield across from Sun Drug was B/G Restaurant during the 1970's, couldn't say what it was in this picture.

There was a big Stouffer's at Forbes & Wood, just down the street.

Oh, you are right. I looked at the corner and thought Revco. But I don't remember if that one was actually a Revco.
Did we have Rexall? I was amused to see Rexall products in my local Dollar General yesterday.
