City/county received plenty of my $$$ for years when I lived there. As for $$$ while visiting it receives plenty more.

No reason to get less for more when you don't have to.

@ sskink- Silliness?? I don't have a 1960 road map. However, how do you think those3596 people got to Pittsburgh? That's actually a pretty good sized suburb in the Pittsburgh area. Bigger than present day Braddock, Churchill, Gibsonia, Ingram, Millvale, many others.

I like the suburbs because of my big house, garage, yard, low crime, and good schools. I like to make the short drive to the city for culture, food, sports, and entertainment. Why does it have to be a battle? I enjoy both places. This thread is dumb.

Much larger in land area though. It's 23 square miles today, and was around a square mile larger before Seven Fields seceded to form its own borough.

Nice to be so close to pretty much anything one wants.
All of that is fine; different strokes for different folks. I'm not criticizing Cranberry for being what it is, I'm just calling it what it is. You're right that I haven't spent a ton of time in Cranberry, if there is some concentration of old homes there that have survived the population explosion please let me know as I'm genuinely curious.

There's some beautiful places on Mars Rd. Went past one last week that's for sale as a matter of fact.

A concentration of old homes? Here and there but not a concentration. There really never was unless you look to Fernway. Most property was farmland that people didn't want to farm anymore, especially their offspring, so they sold out. Certainly can't blame them for that. I wouldn't want to farm either and don't know many who do.

See top photos. This is for all of you who think Cranberry is some "new" suburb. Historic buildings can be found in the most unlikely of places.
Considering the pictures you showed in your post are, indeed, in Harmony, PA (which is at least a ten minute drive from Cranberry up 79)... I think the classification of Cranberry as a "new" exurb remains (as ever) appropriate and unchallenged. I'm quite certain that few in Harmony (or nearby Zelienople) want to hear anyone calling their town "Cranberry Township".

I'm thankful this board's obsession with invisible borders doesn't extend into real life. Whenever I run into someone from the area at an airport they tell me they're "from Pittsburgh". Sometimes that means that they're actually from Monroeville or Cranberry. But no one really cares since it's all just the general Pittsburgh area.

I have yet to meet anyone from the suburbs who looks down on me for living in the city.
