I hear their Spam and Velveeta omelette is without equal.

Does Pittsburgh really need another ham and cheese omelette?

Pittsburgh definitely needs another fair-trade gluten-free vegan fro-yo place opened by people who "get it" and are "just a little bit more ahead of the curve". I don't think rents are rising quickly enough yet for us to become the next San Francisco or Seattle.

Sounds like good fun, give the old timers in Kennedy and Shaler chowing down at Eat n Park something to chuckle about when they talk about their visit to Pittsburgh.

Not joking here. I'm continually surprised at how few Golden Corrals there are around here. If there's any chain that should absolutely kill it in this market, GC is that chain. I'm not their target market, but it certainly seems there are a huge number of folks who would be.

But one can dream can't they???? Actually, I would love to see Del's replaced with an Italian restaurant that actually served good food. It's the gateway to Bloomfield, our supposed Little Italy, and would help rectify the image of that area. Del's, although there for a long time, was nothing to write home about.

Eat'n Park is promoting itself as Farm to Table. So they are joining the fun.http://www.google.com/url?q=http://w...plEduYSlX2Bz9Q

I had the misfortune of going to a Golden Corral in Sharon a couple years ago. I used to go to Old Country Buffet when they had them here, so I thought it was the same. It turned out to be the worst food I ever ate. Greasy, fatty meat, tasteless main dishes, tasteless side dishes, everything was loaded with salt, and the dessert buffet included marshmallows and some sort of pink fluffo. Horrific.

I went to the one in Monroeville with a friend one night last winter, kind of as a joke. It was as bad as you describe, Geeo, though I realize now I've mostly blocked out the things I ate. What I was most impressed with was how filthy the place was, particularly what they considered a clean table. I ate one plate of food and I was done.

I've eaten at a Golden Corral once; there were hundreds of choices & I don't recall anything being bad (nothing great either); while I'm sure it wasn't healthy, eating out anywhere isn't particularly healthy in general. I could see the appeal in feeding a family.?
