We really did have the "last laugh" the following autumn. That particular year surely was the year of the gingko, and those berries along with the leaves were every bit as high after raking our sections of the street/sidewalk etc, as the snow that infuriated her the previous winter. These were piled on the street at the base of our driveway for pick up and I witnessed her stepping into a mushy pile of them near her car door ( of course parked inches into my driveway) as she was wiping leaves off her windshield, after work one day. Certainly her car ride home was extremely fragrant, and we never saw her again. I know I digress from the parking chair topic, but my mental meanderings had me picturing possible uses for gingko berries as a new deterrent for parking space theft

This is not about snow chairs, but weren't some people using chairs to reserve their spot along a parade route, and the city had to pass an ordinance allowing them to only put chairs out so many hours before the event? They were doing it days ahead of time.

Never saw or heard of it on the west coast. Reasonable to guard shoveled space, pretty annoying otherwise. One of my neighbors has a severe mobility impairment and recently had the city paint her a space in front of her house for handicapped parking only, which seems a much more reasonable solution if you really need it. But I've got a driveway and parking in my neighborhood isn't bad, so it's easy for me to scoff at the chair-wavers.

I wouldn't expect anything less in either area.
