I agree. You obviously know much about that.

Leaded gasoline was phased out years before i was born.

There's a theory in sociological circles that leaded gasoline fumes and the resulting cognitive damage was to blame for the massive spike in violent crime from the 1920s to the 1970s. America today is a much safer place than it was in 1970.

I believe when taking in all the un-confirmed cases of Covid (those that had it but never tested or those that had it and never knew it) the mortality rate is around a half of one percent.
But we also must consider hospitalizations. It is believed that many from that group will survive with long term conditions.
As far as the Blue Jays they have other options. One being playing on the road for the entire season. Hope everything works out with the season but in reality all sports should be in a bubble. The NHL and hopefully the NBA will show how it's done.

Well the Blue Jays are going to play in Buffalo. Good for them and Buffalo will get some much needed publicity as people will watch on TV and see their nice city instead of ours that is losing jobs/population and so-on. Ah well, glad Buffalo was a good neighbor to Toronto. Wolf and his anti-business model, not so much. He sure is running us all into the ground. No fans, but much needed publicity. PA has some of the most anti-business/anti-living laws in place with him at the helm. Looking forward to anyone else in there than him.

I was thinking about this. It seems Peduto is a puppet and he could have said NO to the moron Wolf. What are we supposed to do here in Pittsburgh? Just let this thing destroy us? COVID is going to be around for years! We just destroy everything for our children and their children? The leftists need to go! Wolf should resign! Why is no on speaking up? Just cowards!

Peduto’s weak. He wasn’t ever going to do that.

What's been happening is above Peduto's level. He has as much say as you or I do.

Now he did cancel the St Patricks Day Parade - he did that early, before the County or State made mandates. Old-timers here know that I'm no fan of Pedutohead - but he absolutely made the right (and at the time -unpopular) call with that parade. I believe he did that under his municipal power to revoke the permit for the event.

The mandates that have been coming have been from the PaDOH and ACHD are under the authorities in these laws: https://www.health.pa.gov/About/Page...h%20Depts.aspx

Pittsburgh doesn't have a municipal health department that is under the purview of its municipal government. The City of Pittsburgh is served by the Allegheny County Health Department. So the County has the say-so in terms of public health - not the City.

Pittsburgh used to have its own public health service - the 'Pittsburgh Sanitary Police'. However, this agency was folded into ACHD upon the creation of ACHD in the late 40s or early 50s.

It is amazing the idiot Wolf has this much power over our city's economy. Wow, we really are sunk with the likes of him messing everything up.
