Each of those cities are higher than Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh’s gun violence pales in comparison to Cleveland and most likely Cincinnati. I am not familiar with Buffalo at all.

But Big Ed is a fan and huge amounts of money have been spent on it, and don’t forget the famous “plan for peace”. I’ve been looking forward to it for years now.
He obviously is not a fan. Money has been allocated and not spent. Big difference. I don’t think Mayor Ed Gainey is concerned about your wait time.

You obviously didn’t read the article and the quote I provided as to what Lamb said, and here’s a link to Big Ed and talks of social workers.

“And while the Gainey administration embraced the idea as a central part of its Plan for Peace, Community Health and Safety has yet to respond to a single call.“

https://www.wtae.com/amp/article/may...peace/40191990

“Gainey's plan will expand what the city calls Crisis Response Intervention Teams, pairing police officers with social workers in unmarked police vehicles. The plan says social workers, emergency medical technicians and paramedics can become the first responder when the situation doesn't require an armed officer.“

Big Ed obviously isn’t concerned about anyone’s wait time, and that goes for a new chief, the plan for peace, etc…, as a new chief was to happen in December and a plan for peace started all the way back in June, as murders and shootings skyrocket and county police are called in to try to help clean up his mess due to his incompetence.

You obviously do not know that Pittsburgh’s police staffing is not unique and therein lies the problem. There are police staffing shortages coast to coast. I’m sure there is serious competition to hire the best chief. Not to mention the times that we live in. It is imperative to identify and hire the best candidate whoever that may be.

The social workers responding to calls will not work. Never mind what your “source” says. Mayor Ed Gainey’s actions speak louder than words.

But really what do all of these county police do all day? Put them to work in the heart and population center of Allegheny County. Makes sense.

I agree with all of this, and all of it is common-sense. But its not what Gainey is using his pulpit to advocate for. He's spoken of the need to reopen Shuman, but hes not publicly putting any pressure on Fitzgerald to do so. He's no publicly calling out Zappala for being lazy and cutting deals and pleading out. Nor is he speaking out against house arrest for habitual criminals.

The problems are, in many ways, out of his hands. Yet he's not calling out the County Executive, or the District Attorney, or some of the out-of-touch hippie judges. Instead, he's wasting his time and pandering to his base by blaming gun manufacturers..

Well, they have 220 officers who perform a wide range of duties. Patrolling Pittsburgh International Airport and the County Airport, as well as County Parks, running the Police Academy, offering Technical Services (ie Audo Visual), Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement/Accident Reconstruction, EOD, and generally investigates all serious crimes (including homicide) except in the City.

Theyre not meant to be a patrol agency - theyre meant to be a specialist unit who can provide expertise to assist smaller municipal departments which lack that expertise.

That is purely due to the demographic makeup of each city. If you want to argue with it, I will be forced to post the scary numbers. Do you want to go there, or just glaze over these facts? I suggest we all glaze over it and not have me post the....well sad numbers that are a direct correlation to each cities demographic makeup. Cleveland is FILLED with violent crime and, well I won't post the numbers here, but ouch!

Are you trying to argue with me for stating the truth? What is your point exactly? You are so miserable and starting to sound like a broken record at this point. Seek therapy.

Maybe you should seek therapy. Statistics are numbers that can’t be argued against. Solving any problems requires honesty. Things are out of control when police went from proactive policing to sitting back waiting for the usual to happen. Stay safe out there.
