More single women in the late 20s-early 30s range, a concert venue that holds 20,000 in a standing room theater in Oakland, and less yinzers in big beat up pickup trucks with WDVE stickers.

You don't think ketchup and relish makes for greatness?

Anyway, I think the more ambitious plans for the Carrie Furnace site include creating a National Park that would also include the Homestead strike site. Speaking just personally, I find that idea more interesting than a general industrial museum, and I think it is worth noting the Smithsonian is already developing its National Museum of Industrial History on a former steel mill site in Bethlehem.

relish, maybe. ketchup? i just don't see it...

sorry to hear that the smithsonian is doing this in bethlehem rather than pittsburgh. so much legal and labor history (whiskey rebellion, homestead, etc.) in addition to technological innovation related to industry happened in pittsburgh. we been robbed!

A larger Jewish population. Squirrel Hill is nice, but besides Mt. Lebanon and Fox Chapel, Jews are few and far between in the greater Pittsburgh area.

If Pittsburgh becomes an increasingly attractive place to live, it will naturally acquire diversity of various sorts.

Pretty much what Brian said. I'd say more college level jobs and downtown becoming nicer would help. I think the size or downtown is really going to limit attracting new people though.
