I never hesitate to do it even when the are police cars around. Heck, police cars do it too. Ive never gotten a ticket for it and I've been driving in Pittsburgh for decades.

Avoid dangerously switching lanes and flying by way above the speed limit in the right lane.

If I were afraid of a ticket, I would pass slowly----like sliding by---as if the other car simply slowed down----then get to the speed I'm comfortable with after I've cleared them.

I don't know anyone who has been pulled over either.

I suspect they would pull over someone who is driving 'aggressively' by switching lanes at high speeds, etc.

But standard passing in the right lane is pretty much the norm in Pittsburgh.

I read it as legal too. Thanks for sharing that.

I have to agree, there is alot of holes to find your way out. Trust me it's not bad as you think. I'm from Pittsburgh. One thing I do hate about Pittsburgh and which everyone agree is those potholes and constructions. Always there, never fails. When will they STOP? I were born and raised in Pittsburgh, but moved to Sarver, PA in 1998 and lived there for 9 years straight. It is alot better than Pittsburgh. Of course, recently moved down in Virginina Beach in 2007, still here, apparently. Don't worry, I will move back in less than 2 years.

I also have to agree with you HOPES, nobody drives drunk in the North.

It will take sometime to get used to the downhill slopes, street lights, deers, (they are around, lots of them) if you see deer signs. Trust them signs. You may see one deer, just wait for more approaching. I have alot of experiences. Also, avoid the turnpike 76, I ALWAYS DO, as for some, you should. Btw, how much does it cost to get on the turnpike? Used to been $7.

So, Pittsburgh, is not a hole, it's the best and famous city around and will ALWAYS be. Keep them Steelers alive. I do love Pittsburgh, a place call home.

It's so funny to see you post that. Since I have lived down here, I tell everyone that I think the favorite past time is sitting in traffic. People make no effort to find easier, less congested routes to where they are going.
