The most popular comment about Rivers is that it literally stinks.

If gambling was popular among U.S. citizens there would have been more locations than Las Vegas or Atlantic City, long before politicians started selling it as a great, new, income-producing idea.

Casinos are located where they enjoy the benefit of no local competition and income has been maybe 1/5 of that anticipated.

North Side versus WV and guess who wins?

The casino should have been located in our old airport - else the Civic Arena.

That means its smells bad. Just fill the place with air fresheners.

What's so special about the Civic Arena or Airport? I was thinkinig it should have been built closer to the convention center and as a Hotel/Casino project so it can better serve conventions with more rooms and entertainment.

I'm not really that big into the gambling scene, but Rivers is far and away the nicest and most entertaining casino I've been in (never been to vegas), but I find there is far more to do there ... Two fast food type restaraunts, one steak house, one buffett, a club, and a bar with ample and comfortable seating, plus there is a nice riverside walk way and ampitheater, plus there are seats up on the second floor if you need to escape.

I mean I find most casinos to be filled with depressed, smoking, eldery people, but I find the crowd at Rivers to be more vibrant.

Have you guys been to Wheeling, or the casino in Erie... talk about dumps... I prefer it to the Meadows and Casino Niagra as well.

I mean I remember being at Moutaineer, being out of money waiting on someone to finish up and having to sit on the sole 3 person couch that wasn't attached to a gambling machine... it was out in the hallway with a tile floor and flourscent lighting.

I know that there's a restaurant, that's apparently very nice, is there any theater? Any sort of entertainment venue there?

are there any phase 2 plans for the rivers since table games weren't originally planned for?

Ohio, NY, and PA are adding more casinos. It's like having a drug store on every corner. Who cares?

I like it myself. I'm not sure what's so absolutely awful about it. People make it out to be like it was made out of cardboard and tin foil. Geez. Every time I've gone, there has been a decent crowd, I never felt like I was stepping into a depressed nursing home either. The lounges are nice to grab a drink and relax--the restaurants are nice.

Granted I would have rather seen Harrah's build it over at Station Square and completely redevelop Station Square. (Side note, did anyone actually see the plans for Station Square if the casino would have been located there...I did and WOW...that would have been quite the destination.) But, back on topic, we have it, and I think it's a pretty nice place.

Is there anything to actually do there in terms of entertainment? On their website there is suppose to be a club there but I couldn't find it. The outside amphitheater is unusable for a good portion of the year, and they didn't even have any interesting acts play all year (probably due to the small size). The lack of an indoor theater adds even more to the lack of entertainment.

No free drinks while gambling, high priced drinks at the bar, place smells like smoke, and there's no entertainment. That's probably why people aren't digging it.

I, for one, appreciated the free non-alcoholic beverage station they have. I got to enjoy two free cups of lemonade as I gambled $20 away!
