That would be ideal, but I think our leaders would attempt to achieve even more base/force agreements that would allow this wealth of lithium to flow to America. It is a double-edged razor--we want the resource but must engage in actions that are distinctly opposed to our American ideals to achieve it.

Yes, things have a way of not working out, which is why it's best not to invade other countries with hundreds of thousands of soldiers, tanks and planes--you better be pretty sure of the results before you commit those lives.

I find it odd that someone in Afghanistan or has traveled to the area did not know this was there before this. Surely some expert would have known this before now.
