And this means what to the people suffering from the oil? It means 0bama is sitting on his hands, has zero interest in putting all available resources to work, that ship has been idle for two months.
But good news... since 0bama is disinterested, BP will retrofit one of their ships, and maybe on day 100 they will be ready to sail it.
Fact: 0bama is doing squat, refusing to deploy thousands of oil skimmers, and is instead deferring to BP. God help us if this oil rig was owned by Cuba or Vietnam.
Facts are, indeed, irrelevant to those who don't care to see them.
I'm not saying Obama didn't screw up, but the claims about the Jones Act, and his refusing foreign help are false.
Truth is, nobody knows how to deal with this, and they should have, from the first day oil rigs went up in deep water.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- BP says it's working to move an oil cleanup system from an Alaska down to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37992681/ns/local_news-anchorage,_ak# - broken link).
BP spokesperson Robert Wine confirms that the company purchased an Ocean Buster oil skimmer from Shell Oil. Wine says the company can easily pack the containment boom and ship it to the gulf, where the company plans to install it on a different vessel.
The skimmer is part of Shell's Nanuq oil spill response vessel, currently docked in Seward. BP says because it would have taken too long to sail it to the gulf.
A trip via the Panama Canal can take up to 30 days.

Obama said BP is working at the direction of the feds. If Obama had wanted this skimmer from Alaska he could have asked for it on day one. After all, he has been in charge since day one. Counting the 30 days for the trip the skimmer could have been working for 40 days or so already. Now it's going to be 30 days from today and we will be at 100+ days after the spill before it's ready to go.
Are you defending that?? Why didn't Obama and the feds get this going sooner?

So this one skimmer is going to suck up the thousands of barrels per hour that is still pouring into the gulf?
Fact is, foreign aid has been there since early on. Which is contrary to what the talking heads have been saying.
Fact is, the Jones Act does not apply as it did with Katrina, which is contrary to what the talking heads have been saying.
Fact is, the corruption in the MMS which was the root cause of this disaster began way before 2009, contrary to what the talking heads are saying.
This disaster is unprecedented, because, unlike the Exxon Valdez, there is no end to the leakage. Nobody, not the government, not the oil industry, nobody, knows how to stop it, even how to slow it down. And they all should have, before the first inch was drilled in deep water. I'm not defending anybody. I'm as pissed off as the next person.
You want to bit** and moan about the lack of progress in the Gulf? Have at it, but get the facts straight.

Err...did you not just read the reason why? BP JUST BOUGHT the skimmer (and it's equipment) from Shell.
They really should be sending the Nanuq down as well. It's a big, ship w/ a great system. But instead, they're just taking the boom alone. Another BP folly.
