An arrow through the lungs can take a long time to die. A 30-06 through the lungs causes tremendous shock damage as well as destroying the lungs.
I have hunted with both rifle and Bow. You seldom see a deer drop instantly from an arrow. A rifle however it is common. This means very little suffering.
than I take it back you hunters shouldn't hunt at all I guess I am not using the right terms...driller1 says they drop with a crossbow like they do w/a gun.

They do a lot of damage to any landscaping. Deer poo in your yard......you would now like it long.
I used to live in an area with lots of deer running through my yard for well over a decade. I put out salt licks for them. could care less about landscaping. just don't plant stuff they like. nothing better than seeing a big buck or a new mom and baby
As someone already mentioned, it is a good way to keep the population down.
At Red Top Mtn., Ga, the deer are starving there are so many of them. They'll walk up to your car and eat an apple out of your hand, they look like they just got out of deer concentration camp. The state has to hire professional hunters to come shoot some of them out every couple of years so they don't all die.

There's really nothing very special about deer. They're just cows that live in the forest...except I think cows are probably more intelligent. At least the deer give the mountain lions something to do.
I always love the argument: "But the deer/mountain lions were there first!"
Yes, yes they were. And...there used to be a very dense population of grizzly bears in what is now Golden Gate Park...maybe we should re-introduce them?
The president's propaganda guy Cass Sunstein, is very out of touch with rural America!
Damn City Slickers!
That is how I feed my family. He wants me to have to work, and buy steroid meat.

I have not read or seen any video of this, so my question is, was this said in jest? If he was serious, then he is an idiot and should be made to live in the wilderness with nothing but a rifle and some shells and we'll see how he makes it
I can't see any reason to kill them myself even if it were for food. I would just buy my food from the store or turn to veggies!
So, as Ted Nugent once put it, you would just pay others to kill yours for you?
So far as leveling the playing field goes, well hunters can't fly nor run at 40 mph. If you really want to see an unequal match, then visit a slaughter-house, where those who self-righteously condemn hunting get their meat.
BTW -- not saying you personally are condemning hunting under any and all circumstances, because it doesn't seem you are. And I agree there IS a noteable difference between non-hunters and anti-hunters. Yet I have met many of the latter who air their views between bites of steak!

Basically, you can't ban hunting. We've screwed up the natural balance so much that we've eliminated a lot of the predators. If there were no hunting, deer population would skyrocket. I don't mind people hunting, just as long as you use what you kill.
BTW, I don't hunt. It's messy and you have to get up too damned early.
