The actress on Family Guy made a choice to do the part. Palin's baby didn't.
All candidates sometimes have their children with them. I don't think Obama or Palin pushed their kids out there. I believe the kids should be off limits unless they are adults and choose to speak out.
If Family Guy felt the need to make fun of someone with Down's Syndrome, that's their first amendment right. Same with the actress if she chose to do it.
They were out of line going after Palin's baby. Really taking the low road with that one.
Family Guy has made fun of all sorts of people and events. And they take the low road much more frequently than the high one. Their jokes usually go without much notice - either people like the show or they don't, but I have never seen so many people get bent out of shape over a joke in a cartoon than in this instance...those people who hold Palin up as some sort of sacred cow and are so appalled by this really need to take a pill.

It's not Sarah, remember? The issue is about children. Their kids should be off limits, period.

I hate that show with a passion---and I'm a liberal as if that should matter---but I love free speech. I agree with you, people need to consider the source and move on.

I don't even like Palin. Any pol or celebrity that puts themself in the public eye becomes an open target for jokes and ridicule. I have no problem with that and laugh at a lot of it.
I don't think the minor children of these people should be the butt of jokes. They should be left alone. I don't even think the adult children should be hounded unless they choose to become public figures-like Bristol Palin.
As I said the show and actess involved are free to do as they choose. But by virtue of her saying "my mother is the governor of Alaska" brings attention to the fact that Palin's son has DS. Comedy is subjective. That wasn't funny. I don't think it was evil just inappropriate. As a parent, I would have jumped all over them too.
BTW I used to watch Family Guy but Stewie just got on my nerves. I prefer South Park.
