Oh, and lets not forget the hundreds of times liberals on this board said Bush had turned us into a third world nation.

DON'T EVEN PRETEND that the left didn't do the same crap. Apparently liberals can dish it out but can't take it.
That's interesting, hadnt thought of that. Maybe there are similar surveys from that time of anti-Bush people, somewhere? As for your ALL CAPS, this analysis takes a neutral point of view, as far as I can tell.

Yes, I appreciate that.

Then you agree with that part of the survey! I wasnt trying to provoke anything, these are just interesting paragraphs from it.

Yes, much of it. But not all.

As I see it, both sides are entrenched in this battle of wills, and
it is personal. After someone questions whether my parents were
married, I lose the desire to communicate with them in a positive
manner.

I will talk with you, but I will not be yelled at. As a conservative,
being told I am a racist, uneducated, and right wing extremist is
not condusive to polite intercourse.

And you know what? Neither is being called a socialist or communist.

As a conservative, I agree with most of what they said in the survey. The biggest difference is that I don't believe the President has a "Hidden Agenda".

I also think he is going down what he honestly believes is the right path. I don't think he is trying to bankrupt the country, but with all of this borrowing, I think that is where we are headed.

And yes, we started down that road with the Bush administration. I agree with that too.

What does that have to do with the JournoList debacle?
JournoList members colluded to unethically call Obama's critics racists just for disagreeing with his ideology and policies.

This analysis of conservative RW focus groups' responses draws the clearest portrait of the current makeup of the right wing that I've ever seen. It's in two parts: their objections to Obama (interestingly, race is not an issue) and their sense of shared identity. The survey strongly indicates that the Republican Party as we've known it is in big trouble -- "weak, old, and out of touch."

About Obama, four common "pillars" emerge:
Pillar #1 – Deception and a Hidden Agenda

Pillar #2 – Speed ("Obama is pushing his agenda at record pace because he does not want the American people to know what he is doing")

Pillar #3 – Driving Government to the Brink and Total Control

Pillar #4 – The Ultimate Goal: Socialism and End to Liberties
The sense of shared identity is apparent: these conservatives see themselves as an oppressed minority, whose news sources understand what's really going on ("Their antipathy and distrust toward the mainstream media could not be stronger, and they fiercely defend FOX as the only truly objective news outlet"). But most important, "They see a nascent movement building, still not fully realized or activated but with a growing number of people watching and listening, growing increasingly frustrated, and looking for ways to stop the growing threat they perceive."

This is an analysis of survey results, with many quotes from the survey takers; it does not opine or argue. If you describe yourself as conservative/independent, do you see yourself here?
Very well written article.

I dont agree with some of their points though. Namely Fox news.

Fox is part of the problem/was but maybe they changed. They shunned Ron Paul and other tea party people when they were less popular. Now that they are popular they are embracing most of them and even trying infiltrate/highjack it like Sarah Palin.

Come on where were they in 2008 when Ron Paul was running when they ridiculed him. Freedomwatch from one of the judges, Napolitano is good. John Stossel is good too. Glenn Beck sorry he insulted the tea party when it was early on, but I guess he changed. At least he had both Ron + Schiff on for many times. But nowadays not much and inviting Sarah and other fake ones on more.

Well at least he does get some truth out, but not all.

ALL news stations lack some truth to them and Fox is no exception. You need to look at all news and rumors and weave them into your own truth. No one side tells the whole truth.

Bloomberg + RT +CNN tells different perspectives as well, Having Marc Faber + Jim Rogers + Peter Schiff + Ron Paul on many times. So it is good that they are watching all news and not just Fox.

Those that say tea party people are idiots are just ignorant that they do not do enough research about the history of the nation and the people that run it. Also there will be some racists + some idiots in all groups, you cannot avoid that. All you can do is slowly dilute the tensions. These things are like favoritism.

Wut? Are you talking to me? I didnt yell at you or anyone anywhere, or ask about your parents, and that post was in reply to someone else in any case.

No, not at all. I believe you have 'stayed out of the fray'
admirably. I was talking about how I have been 'labled'
on many occasions.

Name-calling is so counter-productive.

You can get in more shots with wit, than with anger.

Well, I wouldnt know that

I dont know if you're conservative, but if you are, do you find the people surveyed reflect your feelings? The opinions of the surveyed Independents and the Republican base diverge at a few points.
