Could you be a bit more specific on what you mean exactly? I agree with don't ask don't tell simply because sexuality has a place and the military isn't it.

Nice to know there's still plenty of people who follow the crowd and call it right

I'd prefer to think we are better than any country on earth and whatever other countries may or may not do will never determin what we do.

Ive never understood how people compare the homosexual plight to the civil rights struggle, and then at the same time say: If you oppose homosexuality, one must be homosexual....thats like saying that if you dislike black people, then you must secretly be black <--- what? lol
Well said... Let's not forget, if that doesn't play then they are homophobes, or religious nuts, or just hateful. Any opposition to the gay agenda is wrong no matter the merit of said opposition.

What does being gay have to do with being a soldier exactly?

Am I wrong for believing the military isn't intended to be about sexuality but more about protecting our sovereignty?
you are right. it is about protecting our country. So, all soldiers must follow the rules. How can the military trust someone who can't even keep his homosexuality to himself.
the DADT policy is simple... it is the "don't tell" part that some people have a tough time with.

You truly don't understand the meaning of freedom. As one of the federal judges who recently ruled DADT to be unconstitutional has said, it's a violation of free speech to tell a soldier that he or she is prohibited from mentioning his or her sexual orientation.

Don't Ask Don't Tell is essentially dead.

its not a violation of free speech to tell your boss to &$%^& Off! I wouldn't recommend it
The military has it's own rules for a reason.

No it's not.

The U.S. Constitution applies to the U.S. Military. If it were a private militia, they could form their own laws about speech, but since the military is a government operation, they must respect the Constitution.

My point is, that just because you have free speech doesn't mean that you should say certain things. Words & actions have consequences.
I.E. If a gay club is off-limits, then it is off limits to all military members.

How many gay people do you know who really want to join the military anyway? the people fighting against DADT are not even remotely interested in the military.

You've got to be kidding. You don't think the soldiers who have been kicked out of the military for being openly gay are actually interested in the military? What? You think they joined just so they could announce that they're gay and then file a lawsuit against the military and the government?

Over 13,000 troops have been discharged under DADT. The estimated cost to taxpayers is in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

for guamanians many of the men and women discharged for being gay are decorated fighters who serve and love thier country.

on another note, the preacher in atlanta got a message in the nytimes from one of his accusers. the victim knows far to much and feels his feelings to clearly in my opinion to be lying. once again a noted and respected man with feelings for the same sex is outed. what is key is that his real fear is not about the treatment of others in his parish but the fact that he has feelings and desires for the same sex. that in his mind and the mind of others is the real sin, the real issue and the real crime. if you dont think this nation is HOMOPHOBIC you are not paying much attention.
