I don't understand what is the big deal with being a homophobe?
The history of this country has always been homophobe.
You and anyone else is free to be homophobic all you like, as long as you don't act criminally in that capacity. (I'll leave the ethics of it to you and your belief system.) But denying other people federal- and state-level privileges based on their sex and the sex of the person they wish to marry is not simly wrong, its anti-democratic.

So why make it about marriage? That's what civil unions accomplish.

So are you saying that casting a LEGAL vote that is not in favor of legalizing something that is currently not legal....is a criminal act?

Is it anti-democratic if a majority of voters in a state decide that marriage should only be recognized between a man and a woman?
Issues of equality should not be left to popular vote:
"The majority, oppressing an individual, is guilty of a crime, abuses its strength, and by acting on the law of the strongest breaks up the foundations of society."
--Thomas Jefferson to Pierre Samuel Dupont de Nemours (1816)

we don't live in a Democracy. If you want true democracy, be prepared for the outcome which is that the majority could vote away any of your rights.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being an idiot, a lunatic, a homophobe... as long as you keep it to self and don't promote the agenda to affect the lives of other individuals.
