Churches and other religious institutions are run more like businesses, often bilking members of their money. Is it not high time they pay taxes like the rest of the country? Why should they be tax exempt?
Any church that insists on using the pulpit for politics should forfeit tax exempt status. The same for those who use church property as a sanctuary to protect criminals from apprehension.

It is my view that they should pay at least property taxes. After all they use the same streets, cops and firemen that the rest of us use and when they don't pay, the rest of us have to. I would also say the same for colleges and universities.
They should lose their tax exempt status when and if they get involved in politics whether it be to endorse candidates or raise money for political causes.
Any funds that churches use as a charitable organization, that should be tax exempt. Just like the red cross, and other charities, that income is tax exempt until it is spent on growth of the organization, or administrative.
The same thing should be with churches. All money for charity, should be tax exempt. However, if that money is used to build a huge mega church, or hire some high dollar preacher from another town to come in, or anything of the like, that should be taxed just like any other business.

That's a No-Brainer. The churches today are RICHER than God, and certainly use up a lot of municipal resources while providing no tax benefit to them.
The question is incorrect...
It's not that Churches should lose their tax exemption - but that you need to question HOW you and your labor and property became subject to taxation in the first place.
If you do a little digging, you may be surprised.
Remember, you were endowed with inalienable rights - to life, liberty and property ownership. Those rights can never be subject to taxation.
You should politely ask your legislators to explain how your right to life became a revenue taxable privilege.
Ditto for your right to own property.
"Something" changed those rights into government granted (and taxable) privileges.
