You have just suggested what could happen but never has and I can assure you that Nasty Nancy will never be elected to that position by Republicans.

Is that air as thin as what you and kevinK are suggesting. What could happen and what will happen aren't the same thing.

I am just now listening to Boehner doing his bad mouthing of Obama for calling us his enemies. Yep, Boehner has been anything but silent the last couple of weeks.

Any duly elected member of the House of Representatives can offer him or herself for the position of Speaker of the House. Which ever member garners the greatest vote from amongst his/her peers will have the privilege of assuming said position. That person typically emerges from the party of the majority.

NONE of this will happen before the new Congress is sworn in, January, 2011. Unless, of course, there's some hostile take over of congress by any majority of its members.

That's the sort of bold leadership we need in these difficult times.
Only in these oxymoronic times could anyone equate 'hiding out' with 'bold leadership'. But, I guess that's what it takes in R-world

So if Pelosi wants to be Prez, she has until the new Congress is sworn in to take action.
