Verbal gaffes aren't anything new. They happen ALL the time.

The media (and WE do it too), rail to no end about them, inflating them to national magnitude. Peoples qualifications are maligned by using them as political bullets. And they're used as a humiliation technique by even car magazines - see the Motor Trend editor thread.

And to prove my point........I'll do one as well......because as a human, I'm part of the problem and can't help myself.

This verbal gaffe issue is akin to beating a dead corpse.

I have met many people in my life who possess what I will called "limited abilities". Almost all of them had a trait that Sarah Palin does not. They "knew" that they would never make it as a leader in life and so they planned their careers accordingly. Knowing ones own limitations in life is actually a quality that should be respected. Sarah Palin unfortunately combines being ignorant along with a sort of hubris. She believes she is capable of anything, including being President of the United States.

I have noticed that when Sarah's followers defend her, they never speak in a positive sense. Their argument is never "well you're wrong because....". Instead, they make a negative argument in which they more or less admit that Sarah may be "inexperienced", than they proceed to say that Barack Obama was too inexperienced to be President as well.

The problem with that argument is that if you look closely it just doesn't ring true. Sarah had served for Governor of Alaska less than two years before John McCain selected her as a running mate. Her only experience in elective office before this was a stint as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. This is a small city and this job was part time, as opposed to full time. Sarah's education is relevant and left much to be desired as well. It took her eight years of study to earn a BS Degree in Journalism after attending no fewer than five colleges. Oh, I guess you could say she has been a sort of commentator on FOX News as well.

Barack Obama attended Yale Law School and was elected Editor of Law Review. He served in the Illinois Legislature and ran unsuccessfully for the US House of Representatives. He was elected to US Senate from Illinois in 2004 and served 4 years in the Senate before President. During his four years in the US Senate, Obama sat on the foreign relations committee.

It is true that Obama could have more experience, but these qualifications at least constitute a sort of "entry-level" to be President.

Honestly, the idea that people could think that someone with Palin's background could serve in the highest office in this land is beyond frightening. Its just plain dangerous.

I'm one of the ones who truly dislikes the politics of this woman, and thinks she speaks to intentionally divide. In fact, I think this woman is one of the biggest hypocrites around. Christian my azz! W H A T E V E R

That said, I listened to the recording. Before her gaffe on standing with 'our N. Korea allies, she made a statement about sanctioning N. Korea then went into one of her typical Obama bashing spills. This was a gaffe; not her lack of knowledge on whether it's North or South Korea who are our allies.

I still don't like the silly _________.

As we all know this type of arrangement helped an inexperienced community organizer to achieve the presidency, so it's effectiveness cannot be underestimated.
Unfortunately for Sarah, she'll never overcome the disadvantage of being a strong white woman vs. the image of a disadvantaged minority that team Obama played up so well.
For the most part, she follows that tenet. The beck program is safe ground for her.

Both sides make far too big a deal of gaffes. Those who make the gaffe should just admit it and go on. Let stupid people on forums argue over it.

LOLs. Luckily no one will take your post seriously.

The woman misspoke. People do it all the time.

It's amazing how liberals hold any non-liberal to higher standards than they do their own.

Liberals are nothing more than big fat liars and hypocrites.

ThinkProgress » Palin: ‘Obviously, We’ve Got To Stand With Our North Korean Allies’

That's not always a great slip up to make while trying to prove you are the right stuff

We should see if she can spell potato....
Dear Lord, You made no mistakes, however in Your great cleverness of Creation, You sure did make comic relief in Sarah Palin to give us laughter and fun . Thank YOU for Your great wisdom, generosity and humor. Love, the American People

Exactly right. They cannot defend anything that the jackass in the Oval Office is doing or has done, but they climb all over any obvious mistake (anyone could have done the same thing).

This is so trivial.

Palin has far more on the ball than Obama the puppet president.

Kinda like the Repugs insisting Obama thinks there are 57 states???

Anyone who thinks that wasn't simply a "mispeak" is an idiot. Of course he knows how many states there are but it doesn't stop the Two-Faced Repugs from bringing it up.

Sarah, however , has CONSISTENTLY shown her ONGOING stupidity.

I'm going to have to defend Sarah Palin here

If I was someone with her background, intelligence, and
political experience and I was where she is today.....
I too, would think I could do anything - the sky would
be the limit.

Look at Reagan, he started out by doing "Bedtime for Bonzo" and "Bonzo goes to College".

I see a lot of similarities between the two. Neither
knew when they stopped making sense Of course,
one had a legitimate health reason, the other.......

With that said, it's just plain dangerous that some
folks are allowed to vote
