Is America inevitably going to head in one direction? Do you feel we're destined to become more liberal or more conservative? Or do you feel things will always change based on the situation we face?
I'd make a safe prediction. We've obviously become more socially liberal over the years. More lack of religion, for example. Look at where homosexuality and abortion were years ago with public opinion, and where they are now.
I'd say fiscally, it's always going to be up in the air.
I'd say you need to re-work your post so it is comprehensible. I don't want to have to make error corrections and inferences and respond to what I think (or hope) you meant.
One cannot be socially liberal and fiscally conservative. That is an oxymoron. If one is socially liberal, then they must also be fiscally liberal or be hypocrites - claiming to be for social programs but unwilling to fund them. Conversely, someone who is socially conservative will not be fiscally liberal.
The past is the best indicator of the future. Whether we like it or not, the nation has become far more socially and fiscally liberal over the last 8 decades. The nation will not survive another 80 years of liberal social and fiscal policies.

Social liberal fiscal conservative is wishful thinking on my part. There are too many horrific economic realities threatening the constitution right now. There is a very real possibility it will not survive the malevolence inflicted upon it from within.

You are wrong, of course, but that is because of your bias. The nation will not survive even 10 years of conservative backlash to supposed liberal fiscal policies. The 8 years previous to the last two saw a Republican government rip 2 Trillion dollars from the middle class and hand it to the top 1% where it promptly disappeared into a financial Black Hole of non-liquid assets. Half the country's wealth is frozen in non-liquid assets. But y'all go ahead. Attempt to redress 80 years of social conscience with wanton disregard for humanity. I will be watching the riots and bonfires from a foreign vantage.
As someone else said, this country cannot continue to be socially liberal and financially liberal. If it continues in this vain, we will find a reason to default on our loans to China. Personally, I already belive the foundation is being laid, with the problems going on between North and South Korea (China backs the north).
If the United States continues on its present course of running such large deficits, we will go to war with China. It will be the only way to get out of the financial mess we are in. More wars have been fought over money and about money, throughout history, then for any other reason(s) combined.
Those who ignore history, are doomed to repeat it.

There will be no war. This government will capitulate and simply turn over enormous assets (Western States) willingly to avoid such conflict. The weakening of our military has already begun by the Start Treaty. What do you think the loss of 50% of strategic defense will produce? Peace?
