Michelle Obama is a real piece of work. I would refuse to let this ***** tell me what my kids can and cannot eat, or what I can put in their lunch!
Thank God for Sarah Palin, who takes a stand against this kind or "regulation". It is no damn business of the government what my kids eat.
But we all knew that this would be the result of Obamacare. Did we not warn? This is exactly why it must be repealed.
Nobody is telling you what you can or can't put in your own children's lunches. Put 2 twinkies, 3 sodas and a piece of apple pie in there for all I care. But when it comes to federally/publically funded school lunches they should be as nutritious as possible.
I was watching a segment, on our local news, about a family choosing between a burger and fries or broccoli for their dinner. The cheap hamburger filled them up, so they opted for the burger. It is sad that the healthier choices are more costly. This is what I would like to see get turned around.
I absolutely agree!
I have many friends who have little terrace gardens where they grow tomatoes and green beans etc. and you don't need much money to start. Their kids are always so proud that their family is eating what 'they' grew.
I'm extremely lucky to live in a place where I get fresh produce nearly all year round. With hydroponics becoming more popular, however, perhaps we will see an increase in indoor gardens?
I'm trying out soybeans and tomatoes this year hydroponically. I already grow herbs (yes herbS, not herb )and it's quite easy and fairly inexpensive to get started.

I agree JetJockey
But at this point, I am almost willing to say make the whole dang thing twinkies and sugar pop.
I do disagree that our admin is pushing Socialism.
As for the smores- well, clearly you watch Palin's show. I do not. I do not believe that making smores is a "strong visual demonstration" for Americans...but hey, perhaps many of you are interpreting it as so! So be it!
I don't watch her show. We don't have Satellite TV. It's a waste of time and too much repetition.
All I am saying is that it is Sarah's MO - no big, overreaching gov't. It's not that hard to figure out. The America people want someone to stand up and speak for them. That doesn't mean they want her to be President, as the polls indicate, but they do want her to speak for American prosperity. It is what she wants to do. She draws crowds, so let her do what she wants. If no one was listening, she would be sitting in her living room in Alaska all day, but, apparently, that is not the case.

That is what we do, grow the things that are more costly at the grocery store - squash, tomatoes, etc. My children always loved to work in the garden. We never had a huge one, just enough for our family.
As a matter of fact, I have a very large family and we all eat organic and grow our own food. We also buy fresh dairy milk which does not give you the phlegm that you get with the store bought homogenized - yucky - milk. LOL! It's the crowded pens that produce the e-coli - the mass marketing is unhealthy. The crowded nasty chicken farms - yuck!
No it's not really. I can bake and eat cookies while still teaching my kids about a healthy diet. Why is this so hard for people to grasp? She isn't telling people they can't eat anything they want, just trying to educate them about what's going to happen if they do.
Yes it is hypocritical. To tell someone that schools shouldnt have bake sales while you are eating cookies yourself. If you dont think that is hypocritical I dont know what you would think is. Lead by example. If you dont think schools should be allowed to have bake sales then you shouldnt be seen eating cookies.
To say we need to fight obesity while eating a fast food burger is hypocritical. Mommy Michelle says we shouldnt have bake sales at school yet she is eating cookies and fast food burgers so why cant I
So what kind of food do you want to see on the school lunch menus?
I personally think we need to bring gym back into schools.
We had a soda machine in our schools. We werent obese because we had gym class. Also we didnt say inside and play ps3 all day. Part of this is the parents for allowing that.
But its not the role of the gov to raise our children. It is the parents.
I also want our leaders to not be hypocrites and lead by example. If Michelle Obama does not think schools should be allowed to have bake sales she shouldnt be eating cookies
