All presidents take vacations. All presidents need special accommodations for security and what have you. I can't/won't fault any president for that, even W (even though W took entirely too many of them).

A million dollars for one week seems excessive, however.

Every leader of our country take vacations!!!!!

Come on now, don't you think they need a break from the world problems (even though they don't get a break, it's a working vacation)!!!!

I say take those vacations especially in his home state, like George Bush did in Maine and Texas!!! And all of our past Presidents whom have taken well deserved vacations!!!!

You did read the article, didn't you? There were a few, er, extraneous expenses there, in case you didn't notice. (Very ritzy hotel, Michelle's separate flight at a cost of over $60,000...

Tough times for the rest of the country. Just sayin...
The article states the Obamas and their friends are paying for the accomodations.

What other president's vacations have received such scrutiny?

Time for "tightening the belt," I believe were Obama's words when he was campaigning. But...that was then, I guess. His britches have gotten bigger, but then so has his ego.

The article states that the total minimum cost to TAXPAYERS is $1,474,200 plus other expenses, the cost of which is undisclosed.

PhillyBurbs.com: *More people expected to travel this Christmas (http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/local/courier_times/courier_times_news_details/article/28/2010/december/20/more-people-expected-to-travel-this-christmas.html - broken link)

Obama is supposed to forgo his vacation b/c some other people can't afford one? How does that compute?

When in God's name does the President of the United States ever stay with his relatives? Does that make any sense at all?

If it weren't Obama, you wouldn't have a damn thing to say about it, would you?

Oh that's right. He's from some rural hamlet about 200 miles from Nairobi. My bad.
