The Cheapest Way to Buy Silver

Amusing and scarey at the same time. The writter made an error as well which I discounted mentioning Nickels contain any silver. Nickels don't and never did.

This quote had me in stitches
"""""""" Silver is an easier and simpler metal than gold to use as money. If all hell breaks loose and China or crazy U.S. politicians debase the dollar, silver will be the better choice for transactions. After all, a one-ounce coin of silver is worth about $32. That matches up well with common prices of everyday goods."""""""""""""""
Back in WWII they did contain silver. 1942.

"Should government/business just build camps for those down on their luck?"

One way to cut costs would be to dig into Third Reich archives to find blueprints and construction info. They built very large compounds for the unlucky.

I don't believe that...... So far as I know USA Nickels were always made of german silver which is nickel and contains no silver. So far as I know Dimes (10 cents pieces) were the smallest American coins to contain 90% silver the rest copper.

If you can produce a link I could be stood corrected, but I doubt you can discover any link.

1964 is the last year American coins were minted with 90% silver the rest copper. In 1965 some 25 cent pieces were made with 40% silver, as were 1/2 dollars coins. After that the Nickel was still nickel or German Silver, and pennies were copper, and the last vestige so far as i know is Nickels are still nickel, the penny being copper clad zinc.

In WW-2 there was an odd cent coin, like a penny called a penny, and made of steel. I am not a coin collector, so my facts can be wrong on really odd coins. I think the steel penny was made in 1943 only.

For US paper currency in WW-2 there was orange color notes, and these were not backed up in silver. I forget what these notes said where now on them it says fedral reserve note. Back then real paper dollars said Silver Certificate.

No sooner was the war over and the orange color notes were quite worthless as currency, but collectors went mad to get them.

Why not simply provide recourse to unemployment compensation for a person who can claim to be unemployed? It is less expensive than welfare, as we currently know it, and more market friendly; it could also have the effect of improving our morals and ethics simply by being able to bear true witness to our own laws. Consider that a person would have less incentive to commit welfare fraud if they could be holy and moral by simply bearing true witness to our own at-will employment laws.

During the war nickel was a much sought after metal for making war stuffs. I don't have a credible source for the nicle being replaced by silver but I do have a copper $0.05 peace.

I have never ever heard of a copper 5 cent piece in the times of WW-2. Can you get a pic of that please? A link will do...

I know during wars metals get strange depending on what someone needs to make. I know places that had fences made of iron and steel with stone pillars, still missing the steel.

I am just fasinated that there might be silver nickels and copper ones for that matter.

Didn't they turn old jails into homeless shelters? I thought that was a good idea. It's better than nothing.

For those who don't have family or friends to fall back on, isn't is really government and business's responsibility to provide for some kind of housing? I mean, we bailed out Wall Street. Now it's their turn. What's your opinion?

No- it is not the government's job to provide housing. The government is supposed to present an environment in which one may prosper and survive, but does not guarantee success.

Want business to return?

1. Ban class action suits
2. Markedly limit EPA regulations
3. Eliminate corporate taxes for manufacturing entities in the US
4. Healthcare reform-
a. tort reform
b. salaried physicians
c. VA "ladder" for generic drugs
5. Allow US expansion of domestic energy resources, reducing energy cost for buisness
