Both crew members safely ejected before crashing, apparently we will put US forces on the ground in Libya after all.
Let me see if I can offer a scenario.
The two fighter pilots end up in enemy territory, so they send in special forces or a recon squad to retrieve them. This group comes under fire and suddenly the NY Times (with full approval of the White House) runs a headline, "American forces under attack", to which then a larger force is offered to handle the situation. While in the course of these actions, we end up in a running fire fight in which two soldiers are killed. The next NY times article runs "Americans killed in Libya", to which both sides of the aisle in Congress tell the President, 'do what it takes to deal with the situation', and the President responds by escalating things further under the premise of 'defending Americans', to which then the press reports, and Americans suddenly get behind our guys, and two weeks later the first humvee's and troops start landing in Tbilisi.
well he did not shoot it down it was a malfuction that caused it to go down and it was at high altitude. so the F-15 still holds it's untarnished record of never being shot down in combat and have the most air-air combat kills of any other plane of the jet age
True. The F-15, and particularly the Strike Eagle is an amazing aircraft. Especially true for a design that is going on 50 years old! To be honest, it's a bargin, compared to the cost of newer aircraft.

Is it any more vivid than the bizarro world fantasy that led us into Iraq, or Somalia, or Yemen, or Pakistan?
When you are faced with a government culture of militarism, just about any wild scenario can and will be used to justify a continuation of the status quo.
I know and the F-22 IS the plane that should still be in prduction the F35 is not even near the same level of performance the F22 was but the are makeing a revised F-15 called the siliet eagle which is has the stealth signature of the F-22 from the front and side profile it is only vulnerable from the rear to enemy radar.

There will be people on this forum who think you're out of your mind...I happen to believe that a scenario such as this is very possible.
