US jet crashes in Libya; fighting rages in cities - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110322/ap_on_re_af/af_libya - broken link)

Both crew members safely ejected before crashing, apparently we will put US forces on the ground in Libya after all.

Another $31 million (in 1998 $$) added to the cost of Obama's latest adventure. This gives Gafaffi more propaganda material. At least the crew is OK.

At least they ejected in time.

These planes cost so much money. I'd always be reluctant to use them in battle.

well he did not shoot it down it was a malfuction that caused it to go down and it was at high altitude. so the F-15 still holds it's untarnished record of never being shot down in combat and have the most air-air combat kills of any other plane of the jet age

check out the cost of a B2 spirit stealth bomber they are very expensive to operate and maintain.
same with the F-22 which in a sense was the replacement for the F-117 and the F-15 eagle all rolled into one plane.
