Well, crap, here we were having a discussion about homosexuality without ascribing any kind of morality to it and along comes a couple people who want to inject religion and psychiatry into it. Don't you guys realize you are only proving the OP's point that there is plenty of homophobia right here in this country and right here on CD?

What do you mean by 'disagree'. we didn't choose to be gay in the first place. so it couldn't possibly be gay people you 'disagree' with. You disagree with the reality of the situation and you disagree with nature or God's decision that we were born. so yes anybody who 'disagrees' with an unchosen trait is called a bigot. anybody who 'disagrees' that we should have the right to marry is aptly called a bigot. they're rights we deserve that YOU GET that have NOTHING TO DO with you.

the FACT is the gays keep saying it not a choice...ok...then it is GENETIC (you cant have it both ways )
so either its a choice ..or you are BORN with it, a GENETIC NEUROLOGICAL deformity...like autism
How do you equate something being biological with something being a deformity? Is left-handedness a neurological deformity?
if someone equate righthanded as 'normal' and the majority are righthanded..then yes lefthanded could be looked at as a deformity/abnormality
the fact is that IF we say it is something they are born with, then we need to look at what might have caused this abnormailty
the reality is if you LIKE the same sex...if you are ATTRACTED to the same sex..then is that not a LIKE and an ATTRACTION..therefore a PREFERENCE...ie a choice......or you can say born with, and except it as a neurological/mental deformity/illness
What if all the gays are wrong? What if it is against the laws of Nature. What if God really doesn't like homosexuality? They might/would be living a lie. Have ya'll ever thought about that, and all these thousands of years were correct in believing homosexuality is a scourge and abomination?
Just because you say you are right, doesn't mean you are. All the made-up words in the dictionary won't make a difference if ya'll all end up in H---.
I mean, what if? Something to think about.
And really, what difference does that make in YOUR afterlife? The 'gay rights movement' is about THIS life, not the afterlife. And all gays are really asking for is to be treated like the human beings they are, instead of the animals those in places like Uganda and Iran treat them as. They're not asking for anything you yourself don't have. They aren't asking anyone to give up their religious beliefs, just that those beliefs not be used as an excuse to torment them. They aren't asking that you give up your marriage, just that they be allowed to marry the ones they love and want to spend their lives with. They aren't asking you to take up a same sex relationship, just that they not be condemned and mistreated for doing so.
And, BTW, when you think about it, ALL words in the dictionary were "made up" at some point in time, were they not?

Where do you think words come from? At one time or another all words were "made-up"...

It could be any number of reasons. Hormonal changes in pre-natal development, some genetic marker, etc. None of which require it to be a deformity.

An attraction is not a choice. You don't conciously look at someone and decide, hmm, I think I'll find them attractive today.

I always find it sad when self-righteous "Christians" like Buddy say, "Nothing you say matters since you're going to Hell anyway!"
NOTHING about Buddy's post is representative of the religion he apparently claims to belong to. If Hell exists, I kind of expect more conservative christians there than any other group based on how they treat people and ignore Jesus' commands constantly.
