Sounds like a complete surrender of everything that makes America the great country that it is.

Animals and plants are not members of the human race, and do not have the ability to consent to a contract. This is a poor argument against gay marriage. Don't be silly.

We just need one more:
The right of government to involve itself and dictate as necessary in every aspect of an individuals personal and professional life.
We aren't too far away from it now and it's been working great so far.

What do you think of the following amendments?

Thoughts?
I think you must be channelling Rep. Jesse L Jackson Jr., because he has already introduced most of those proposed amendments in Congress:

Quote:
Amendment 28. Citizens of the United State of America have the right to work (that is, to guaranteed employment and pay in accordance wit the quantity and quality of their work, and not below the state-established minimum), including the right to choose their trade or profession, type of job and work in accordance with their inclinations, abilities, training and education, with due account of the needs of society.
This right is ensured by the American economic system, steady growth of the productive forces, free vocational and professional training, improvement of skills, training in new trades or professions, and development of the systems of vocational guidance and job placement.

See H.J.Res 35, 112th Congress - Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States respecting the right to full employment and balanced growth. Sponsored by Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr.
Quote:
Amendment 30. Citizens of the United State of America have the right to health protection.
This right is ensured by free, qualified medical care provided by state health institutions; by extension of the network of therapeutic and health-building institutions; by the development and improvement of safety and hygiene in industry; by carrying out broad prophylactic measures; by measures to improve the environment; by special care for the health of the rising generation, including prohibition of child labour, excluding the work done by children as part of the school curriculum; and by developing research to prevent and reduce the incidence of disease and ensure citizens a long and active life.

See H.J.Res. 30, 112th Congress - Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States regarding the right of citizens of the United States to health care of equal high quality. Sponsored by Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr.
Quote:
Amendment 32. Citizens of the United State of America have the rights to housing.
This right is ensured by the development and upkeep of state and socially-owned housing; by assistance for co-operative and individual house building; by fair distribution, under public control, of the housing that becomes available through fulfilment of the programme of building well-appointed dwellings, and by low rents and low charges for utility services. Citizens of the United State of America shall take good care of the housing allocated to them.

See H.J.Res. 32, 112th Congress - Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States respecting the right to decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing. Sponsored by Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr.
Quote:
Amendment 33. Citizens of the United State of America have the right to education.
This right is ensured by free provision of all forms of education, by the institution of universal, compulsory secondary education, and broad development of vocational, specialised secondary, and higher education, in which instruction is oriented toward practical activity and production; by the development of extramural, correspondence and evening courses, by the provision of state scholarships and grants and privileges for students; by the free issue of school textbooks; by the opportunity to attend a school where teaching is in the native language; and by the provision of facilities for self-education.

See H.J.Res. 29, 112th Congress - Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States regarding the right of all citizens of the United States to a public education of equal high quality. Sponsored by Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr.
None of these proposed amendments will ever reach the House floor for a vote, much less get the two-thirds of the House support it needs.

Don't waste your breath. This has been pointed out to behaviorial socialists (AKA, social conservatives) time and time again, and yet it does. not. compute.

Too bad the proposed Amendment regarding free higher education was not in effect back whe they were having a go-around, because it would probably have aided in their ability to recognize WHY plants and animals lack capacity to contract. In THEIR world, though, they can sell cars and houses to dogs, and apparently enter into and enforce business contracts against cats and carrots alike.

How in the world does #28 fit into any economic model?
What about supply & demand?

No on 28. How would that go about being facilitated anyway? You already have the 'right' to employment I believe. You don't just get it handed to you though. Instead there ought to be much better public education everywhere, so that people can go on to trade schools or universities.

29 doesn't seem horrible, I know a lot of European countries have laws like that, I'm wondering how it would affect productivity and the national output though.

30 sounds good, I advocate healthcare access for anybody. My mom has a mental illness that she had no choice in getting (like many illnesses), and the therapy and medication for it is VERY expensive. Should she be forced to just waste away if she doesn't make a high enough salary to afford it? Hell no.

31 seems like we already have that, it's just horribly managed. I also think people ought to actually save money in a retirement plan. If you go to college, major in something that you'll get a lucrative job with and then start saving immediately. Don't start saving when you're 40 bloody years old, start at 22!

32 again I think improving education and the economy will lead to more jobs for more people, so they can afford their own digs. Setting a price ceiling is not good.

33 seems OK except for that last clause. All students should be taught proper English, but I also think they ought to be required to take a foreign language in middle and high school. My school required it.
