The SCOTUS ruled LONG AGO that restrictions and the permit process are perfectly acceptable and warranted.
Really now, permits for gatherings on the national mall is SOP.
Let them rule what they want. The Supremes aren't above politics (even though they're supposed to be). They're just appointed hacks, in my opinion.
I suppose you'd be in favour of the SCOTUS ruling that the 2nd amendment should be subject to everyone having a permit to own a firearm.

Jefferson Memorial: Filming/photography is prohibited within the columns and the interior chamber of the Jefferson Memorial.

What is the difference between a Public Gathering and a Special Use Permit?
Public Gathering Permits include Special Events and Demonstrations
Quote:
Special Event: Any presentation, program, or display which is not a demonstration, but
which is recreational, entertaining, or celebratory in nature, etc.
Demonstration: Speeches, picketing, vigils, etc., and all similar activity designed to
communicate a message of some kind.
A permit does not appear to have been required. So, I suspect it was a matter of disorderly conduct when they refused to comply with the requests of the Nat. Parks police.

Here comes the red-herring. What does Canada have to do with this thread?
You're in Canada and you're making pronouncements to Americans' about constitutionally-protected free speech. I find that ironic. Or, if you prefer, hypocritical.

I cannot carry a firearm onto the Mall and not up the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. Is that unConstitutional?
