Rub your hands with glee, because your day is coming when the government will deem something you do to be illegal. Who will defend you then?
There are standards and rules that need to be followed. If they wanted to demonstrate, they should have gotten a permit for the mall or another area that allows it. Simple.

Does that include Glenn Beck at the Lincoln Memorial?

Show me where the Constitution indicates a permit is required to peaceably protest. Until you can do so, you can't win.

Did he not have to obtain a conditional use permit?

They were on the mall, with a permit. They were not IN the memorial, were they?

I don't know if he did. Whether he did or didn't is of no concern to me. No permit is required under the Constitution. I have a suspicion that even if Beck did not obtain a permit and if his rally had been laid seige to by police, that you'd be up in arms over it, since you may (correct me if I'm wrong) support his views.

I guess you could look at the Park Service and see that they do not allow demonstrations, protests IN/ON national memorials.

If that's not good enough for you, it's just too bad.

I do hope they followed through with the threat that they would remain in jail over the weekend.

That hag medea benjamin is a disgusting piece of inhumanity.

No, it's not too bad. The park service does not have veto power over the Constitution. What don't you get about that?
Your opinions of the protesters are irrelevant, as are mine. I know nothing about their agenda, but it doesn't matter here.
