There was also the story about the doctor who responded to to a car crash and was sued.

Things do get strange in these so called modern times. Private people making an attempt to save someone from most anything can and will be sued, sometimes accused of crimes too. Often times the real bad guy is totally over looked.

I know of a case where a guy tried to help a beaten hysterical woman, who was also probably raped. The woman accused the guy trying to help of committing these crimes, and then she accused the 2 cops who busted the guy of that same things.

She was hospitalized the guy helping was arrested, and the real bad guy was over looked, untill the day came when the woman was being released from the hospital. There in the air lock doors she was stabbed to death by the real bad guy.

This town in CA decided how and where to spend their money and it wasn't on services that could SAVE their fellow citizens.

This is LOCAL government at work.

I'm sure you are all hearing the same thing from your local governments..cuts have to be made and on the table are teachers, firemen and police. Not a mention of the bloated administration full of paper pushers; it's always the front line people who directly deal with the people that are the first to get cut.

isnt this what the tea party wants? scale back government, individual responsibility and rely on yourself instead of government.
Spoiler
i think many tea partiers are naive about that and dont understand the cops and firefighters wont be there to help them according to tea party philosophy. scaling back government means cutting those firefighters and local cops as well, tying hands behind backs with policy cuts.

this guys death is a result of that mentality.

now here is the cold blooded side of me. this guy deserved what he got. he intentionally went into deep waters and was suicidal according to the link.

why risk somebody elses life for your own selfishness.

what im neutral on is the 75 observers who did nothing.

on one hand this guy is his own worst enemy.

on the other hand it shows the lack of compassion for man in todays society.
i guess i could be grouped in the lack of compassion for man category.

Sounds to me like city and citizens alike passing a stinking fish. I've included the a date stamp in quotes for reference. Included in the news reports was a statement that Alameda (?) suspended its water safety program two years ago.

So, if the Tea Party began in early 2009, there wouldn't have been a Tea Party election prior to the suspension of the water safety program. Given that the Tea Party probably had no influence whatever in San Francisco, and particularly MUCH LESS influence than Speaker Pelosi herself, it seems hardly likely one could associate Tea Party philosophy with this drowning incident. Maybe the county was planning on that healthcare waiver from the former Speaker'ess.

Should several of those bystanders have doffed their gear and headed into the water to rescue the drowning man, the rest of the county might have taken a broader interest in something other than blame the other guy.

You really are mis-informed. Most Tea party people would like to see the FEDERAL government scaled back.

Police and Fire departments are a LOCAL issue, not fed.

This. Just sad how people continue to embarrass themselves in weak attempts to attack the tea party.

NO! The problem was self-eliminated.

This is a San Fransisco sickness. I have seen fireman , people , children risk more for a dog .
People run through glass doors police attempting to stop them , into a fire , for other peoples pets , then knowingly get into the police car , under arrest , as is the law .
The Devil lives in comfort at home in San Fransisco.
