He was sent to prison by an old BS "common law" loophole. So primitive and archaic, it had laws such as - "It is against the law to not believe in the bible" and similar BS...
Thats the only way they could actually convict him of any wrong doing.
Could you post something to support this?
Because from the little I have read,he went to prison because he himself did the actual killing in that particular case.
cuz they could be paralyzed or crippled and unable to obtain the necessary equipment for a quick, painless, dignified death. or even a gun or knife for a messy death. surely the medical bill is far less than that of keeping them alive and suffering
True enough, how many people who want to die are in those circumstances do you think?
50%?
75%?
Additionally, even taking a gun to your own head doesn't guarantee it will work. You could still live but be in even worse shape. Why not have a proven, methodical, physician-assisted and monitored process to minimize those risks?
How often does shooting yourself in the head fail?
There is always various drugs or just google it....
Yes, and that has been explained to the poster numerous times but there is no comprehension apparent...
He seems to think points are awarded for those who kill themselves as opposed to those who get help...
or.. if you DIY you win a prize 'cause you're special....
No you missed the point( apoint among hundreds you have missed...) you cannot have others doing the killing and not have the danger of abuse of the situation, which is the case in the Netherlands.

The regulations became stricter in 2002 under the "Termination of Life on Request and Assisted Suicide Act"

The bulldog "christian" right wing, which had control, was able to "get" him. The same people who believe if you can't pay your medical bills, you should die without complaint. Life outside the womb is your "responsibility" and not a right.

Why involve anyone else anyway?
Assisted suicide allows the family and loved ones to prepare and discuss. Nobody's going to tell their loved ones "I'm going to blow my brains out, what do you think?".

Reason: language

But if it was legal they would say something along the same lines correct?

Yes, he wanted to actually do the injection, filmed himself doing it, so he could be arrested and the issue would be litigated before the public. All against the advice of his outstanding attorney, a flaming liberal, Jeffrey Feiger.
