I thought you were Al Sharpton...since you represent black people.

Just say the words 'Uncle Tom' in a convo with a black person. I'd be willing to bet there would be little reaction to it, if any. Maybe a chuckle and someone saying "what do you know about Uncle Toms?" and they'll go on. But nothing will happen.
If I called you an 'Uncle Tom' you would not react?
This is a sad example of commonsense, real-world decisions being secondguessed and derided by people who never ran a business, never created one job, never paid an employee, and never faced the issue of sending employees on dangerous missions.
I used to deliver pizzas at a different national chain, and we also had an area (a small housing project) into which we did not deliver. This is pretty much standard practice in areas with a history of robberies.
Right, back to the topic. I wouldn't call Cain an Uncle Tom just because he wouldn't deliever pizzas to a certain area. I would call him a person who doesn't live up to the universal business practice of serving those who are willing to pay for his services.
In the pizza world, it is common practice to not deliver to specific areas known to pose elevated risk to drivers.
The problem isn't with "those who are willing to pay..." but with those who falsely present themselves as willing to pay...and who then proceed to rob and shoot.
Since there is no way for a business - or a pizza driver - to distinguish between the two (esp today with untraceable cell phones), many pizza shops have made the common sense decision to not send their drivers into risky environments.
LOL....another phrase that only black people can decide when it is to be used???
Yea. Pretty much. I mean, you're welcome to use it how you please whenever you want to use it. Free country. Just make sure that you don't use it when referring to me, that's all. Not that i have anything to worry about in that regard. It's obvious as hell that i'm not an Uncle Tom.
I don't see the term, "Uncle Tom", as racist at all. I see it as an insult blacks throw at other blacks they deem having going over to the other side--whatever "the other side" represents to them.
Warm, but not quite.
Uncle Tom isn't someone who is "going over to the other side." There is no other side. People are free to go wherever they want. I'm black, married to a non-black, and i'm the furthest thing from an Uncle Tom as you can get.
An Uncle Tom is a black person that denigrates his own people for the satisfaction of non-blacks and does so purposely. Allen West is the best example of this type of person. An Uncle Tom is also someone who adheres to stereotpyical behaviour that brings shame upon his own people....and knowingly does it when he/she knows better.
An Uncle Tom isn't a person who makes a business decision based on the safety of his employees. Again, millions of blacks avoid bad neighborhoods just like millions of whites do. Have you seen any "pizza delivery riots" just because some people live in areas that don't get delivery service? It's asenine to call Cain an Uncle Tom over a business decision.
Besides, when us black folks are ready to call him an Uncle Tom, we'll do it, but not for the reasons so many people (like Summers) think. It'll be because he's actually Tomming and making ass of himself. And so far, i've never seen him do anything like that.
Even though Cain said he said not to deliver to the WORST parts of town, not to the whole area. Doesn't matter. His accent is too folksy and he's too personable to be labeled as a U-T by racists.
Can't say I blame him. Here in PG County, MD three black males killed a driver for not the money but the pizza and chicken wings.

This is rich a Black man married to a non-Black woman is lecturing others about what being it is to be an Uncle Tom. I know quite a few Black women who'd consider you one just by this fact alone.
I think you're too defensive about your marital choices and are going way over board in playing this militant Black guy role.
Also the Uncle Tom in the actual novel never did what you say is an Uncle Tom. He merely forgave the whites who brutalized and lied to him.
