Older landrover discovery. Built like a tank, tows my horse, hauls the family and dog to vacation house on weekends, and is paid for.
LandRover is just about one of the least dependable cars that you can buy. It is truly a status car because you have to have money both to buy it and maintain it.
Someone driving a range rover is saying look at me, I can afford to keep this vehicle and keep it moving.
What's the big deal about driving a BMW/Mercedes? My husband works hard, and he wanted it. I show dogs, and that isn't cheap, and I don't work. My thoughts are it's a fun car to cruise around in and go and have lunch. He drives his BMW to work, 3 miles away, and he certainly doesn't gloat over the fact he owns a BMW. We can afford it, so what's the big deal?
Challenge accepted. I used to be a fleet manager for a major company, and although my stereotypes are just that, I do have a basis for them.
Here, I am only talking about cars, and I should have be clearer on my stereotypes. Why is it that you have so many cars - mustang, ford truck, two four sedans?
What, it's OK for you to manage a fleet, but you'll qestion anyone else who does?

No big deal. Buy any car that you like. It is your money. BMWs are just status cars that are used to tell the world that "I have made it".

I think that those of us who can't afford it, but would like to, might be speaking, at least a little bit, out of envy. . . ..not me, mind you but others! I freely admit that I would if I could!
Why is it when someone has an alternate/unfavorable viewpoint they're automatically accused of as being "jealous"?
I don't think your statement is true, and I do think that people are exceptionally good at finding reasons for their behavior that they cannot interput negatively.
Why is it when someone has an alternate/unfavorable viewpoint they're automatically accused of as being "jealous"?
Because when someone makes a ridiculously derogatory statement steeped in high stupidity, the motivation deserves to be highlighted.
