If I rememeber right the entertainment compoanies came up with the rating systems because of growing critism of youth going into such shows to aviod politcal problems. The courts have only ruled on Porn itself not R arted. If you casn get the gaming inductry to do the same ;more power to you.zYou might qwant to star by getting large retilers to stop selling them fi by their choice becuase of unpopularity. Bet gamig inductry will joi i then. But of course this woulod be a black eye to aprents who can controlwhat games their kids buy easier than what they kight see absent them.

So, it's ok to sell/rent violent video games to minors, but people under the age of 17 aren't allowed to go to an R rated movie without a parent?

I am a gamer myself...there are some games that I play that include the same amount (a lot of times MORE) violence, offensive language, and depictions of sex/drug use as R rated movies.

My question is this...why is it ok for kids to play these games?
Lol...in the 90s, when I was working in a movie theater, parents would come up and say, "Is this rated R for violence or for sex?" If I said, "For sex, their kids couldn't see it." If I said, "For violence," they bought the ticket.

I'm still waiting for solid, conclusive evidence that shows people are made violent by video games.

Yeah. I am pretty sure people were murdering, torturing, raping, pillaging, and generally being not nice waaaaaay before Pong hit the scene.
