I know that. I still say eliminate 100% of the farm bill.

Can we eliminate 40% of Medicare at the same time since its not funded by taxes and is essentially welfare for the middle class with no means testing. Or is that simply wrong? One welfare program is ok and another welfare program is wrong. By the way seniors had 40 years or more to pay for their medical costs so why should taxpayers be on the hook? Why do Republicans continue to focus on Snap when Medicare out of the general fund is 3x as big. Is it because Republicans are recipients of one program and are at war with young people on Snap?

Agreed! Stossel actually went out and found dozens of jobs within blocks of a welfare office and not a single person in line would take one of the jobs because welfare paid better.

It's sickening

For all you FOX haters; yes, I watch Stossel and the Independents because I'm a Libertarian

Heres a link to the hit piece that Stossel did. Notice now scientific the reporting was and how hundreds of people were interviewed to come up with this. More red meat, dog whistle politics for the Tea Party base.

It's hard to believe but the food stamp program is the vast majority of the farm bill. Makes no sense.

Good try, no cigar. Libs are always trying to equate Medicare (to which the producers contribute) with welfare (to which recipients aren't required to have contributed in order to collect). And means testing is just another redistribution scheme, with the gub-ment and libs deciding who has what they've deemed to be "enough," and one step away from "wealth" testing...that'd be assets accrued, BTW, for which the industrious and frugal would be punished again.

Not gonna happen;wouldn't be prudent.

Why would anyone bust their balls for a job that pays less than welfare? Hell with the wages most places pay today you can still qualify for a slew of subsidy programs.

Why is SS and Medicare considered welfare? People pay their entire working lives into the system, by law.

Here, let's do it this way:

STOP ALL WELFARE, give back everything paid into the system in the form of an RSA and HSA. This will solve the entire problem. Take the government out of the welfare, healthcare, and nanny business. The FEDGOV should only be the regulators of state commerce, defense, border protection, civil rights, and enforce and protect the Constitution.
