I always find it a bit odd when people rush to proclaim black people "a drag on the health of America". Had white people in the past and present (although, of course, not all white people) not spend several hundred years actively working to hold black people back, we wouldn't have anywhere near the issue that we do now.
I do not find it odd when people use this argument to actually excuse the current conditions of many black families. Just so you know, in South America Spaniards and Portuguese colonists dealt with slavery...excuse me(spend hundred of years actively working to hold black people back) yet, Black Hispanics do not have nowhere near the same issues as Blacks in North America; specifically speaking the U.S. Needless to say, the economic and, as a result, the social development were not even close in comparison. People just did not, does not, and will not have time to moan when there are so many things to be done in their personal lives.
But, as someone already pointed out. Blacks never had the opportunity that many have at this point in time. But they continue to perpetuate the mantra that the white man is to be blamed for all of their pains and aches. Furthermore, it is truely sad when I overhear black people talking about reparation......are we for real? At some point, people have to stop blaming others and as Morgan Freeman said "The only way to stop racism is to stop talking about it".

What kind of job cam someone get when they haven't finished high school?
And who's fault is that.....? There are so many instruments that any person can use to overcome the lack of skills. Many people have taken adventage and got their GED's. So it is not like there are no resources or structued programs to achieve that. But.....it is not easy, and in today's youth....well you know! Everything must come with the push of a button in the majority of cases.
I always thought a GED was considered the equivalent of a HS diploma as far as employment was concerned.
Blacks with college degrees showed a 7.9% UE rate.
The less the education the higher the UE rate was.
Also cited was the sectors in which Blacks were typically employed which were contracting.
Yes it is but a GED is stigmatized as less honorable. They didn't go through the 4 years of bs, fun, and hard work like the rest of us. It is perceived as a short cut or the easy way out. It also doesn't help that a lot of GED holders were either bad students or pregnant teens before they dropped out or were kicked out.
It's unfortunately clear that blacks (in general) are simply unwilling to accept that their plight is caused by none other than themselves. As long as this mentality remains, there can not (and will not) be any meaningful and productive change for improvement.
The black folks that have worked hard in school, earned a higher education, stayed out of trouble, been productive in their lives, parented their children properly, and done all the [other] right things in their lives 'should be' the most outspoken against the blacks that bring their race (by perception or literally) down. That seldom happens! Until it does, there will not be any improvement...

I'm black and I agree with you 100%. We have to denounce the excuse making and the lack of accountability. Sadly, it will never happen.

High school is the easiest part of your life. It's stupid to drop out. But if you didn't get a good foundation in grade school and middle, you will definitely struggle.
Unemployment among black men is 19.1% compared to 14.5% for black women.
What's the 'real' reason black unemployment is so high?
You gotta love the way the media tries to stir up controversy b/n races w/ headlines like that.
I believe it would be just as accurate to say "WHITE UNEMPLOYMENT: HIGHEST IN 27 YEARS!" In fact, it may be more accurate to say - "WHITE UNEMPLOYEMENT: HIGHEST IN 50 YEARS!"

Sadly for everyone, but particularly for blacks, it's a real shame when most everyone believes it will never happen.
