Nassau County police officers' salaries
Oops.
Nassau County Police Department

Recruits begin at 49,000, with 89,000 possible after six years. Plus over-time, etc. New York is a rather affluent area. 89,000 is pretty high for the majority of officers in the country.

as to teachers:

The Rise of the Six-Figure Teacher - New York Times

TEACHING has always been known as a noble calling, but as affluent parents and administrators strive to give their children every possible advantage, it has also become a better-paid profession than in the past, with thousands of public school teachers in the New York suburbs now earning more than $100,000 a year.

You forgot this part.
"The salaries, among the highest in the country, are paid only to the most experienced teachers, with the most education, in an area where the cost of living is notoriously high. But they are high enough to have raised the ire of some taxpayers, who are making it an issue in budget votes on Tuesday."

Median income for Nassau country is 93k according to Wikipedia. Median income in the United States? 33k.

The median pay for a police officer is half that. You're describing the most affluent suburbs in New York, and a suburb that is in the top 20 overall for in the United States. You're trying to make it sound like even public positions like police officers and teachers are accruing great wealth. This couldn't be further from the truth. It is a position based entirely on intellectual dishonesty.

nope I am stating FACTS...

fact most police officers (not probies) who are VESTED BRING HOME over 150k a year....I have dozens of friends on the force...I my self am a retired military police(among other things)

fact most teachers here are bringing in 'right around' 6 figures...some a little short80k some a lot morer...we had one GYM TEACHER who brought home 250k

you keep trying to DISMISS the FACT that LOCATION, and COST OF LIVING does play a roll

I am retired military, have traveled all over this great country and the world..and cost of living plays a major roll..

but for some reason..some people think that ONE SIZE FITS ALL....but facts are...it doesnt

What I find idiotic, is that we have a nation where 1/2 of us pay no income tax at all, running around demanding that others who do pay, should pay more because they arent paying "their fair share"..

You cannot disprove that above statement but pointing to a completely different statement...I said that already...

yes there are people who have been living overseas for years and don't want to be double taxed...that doesn't change that many have left and are considering to leave for tax reasons.....

its funny that you mentioned the U.K., well the article goes on to say:
"Even relatively high-tax nations such as the United Kingdom are attractive compared to the class-warfare system that President Obama is creating in the United States."

yeah, that is a whole different thing is for another thread..

Some wealthy Americans voice the ultimate protest.:

"In 1993, the first year of Clinton's "soak the rich" presidency, 306 individuals officially and legally renounced their American citizenship and moved to financially less restrictive locations such as Ireland, Switzerland and the Caribbean. And thousands more Americans have been speaking with lawyers quite seriously about this very topic.

By comparison, in 1982, the year after Ronald Reagan drastically lowered taxes, not even one American renounced citizenship."

and yes the numbers are low...but if the numbers comprise of mostly wealthy people...then that is millions maybe even billions in lost revenue..and before you say "dur, dur, it was only 306"....thousands more were considering doing the same....yes the number were low but they have continue to increase and jumped rapidly in recent years...

so this is the history, this is what happened...1982 and 1993...I have said that since the beginning of this...that is the history of this, not my fault, sorry, you're going to have to deal with that...you cannot disprove or downplay that by spinning, denying and deflecting it...but good job trying......and yet here we are, 2011, and you people are trying to raise taxes on them again thinking the outcome would be different...based on what?....nothing but what you "feel" and "think"...
Simply put, if an american (who is living in the U.S.) were to change his citizenship from the U.S. to the U.K solely based on lower taxes then he would be an idiot, as the taxes in the U.K. are actually higher. Do you need a cite for that. You can't make a policy that would have any meaningful effect on idiots as they do not behave rationally. If someone wants to move to another country because they don't like Bush or Obama or Truman, fine there is little that you can do about that. I am sure a lot of people will consider moving to Canada if we get another republican president.

However, none of this has anything to do with the fact that there are few other places to go to pay lower taxes than we have in the U.S. So anyone wanting to leave for that reason is simply not rational. And saying that they want to leave because of Class warfare obama is trying to create is sheer talking points non-sense. If you really want to see class system, move to Europe. These are just scare tactics with no basis in reality.

It is amazing, isn't it? It is like a rude beggar who is given a $10 handout and demands $20 instead from his benefactor.

The taxation issue is this in a nutshell-

"I want more money from other people to buy things I want."

Why INCREASE taxes on anyone except on corporations that pay zero taxes like GE. All they need to do is cut cut CUT in a BIG WAY.

We are $14 Trillion in debt now increasing by $1Trillion a year. Why not cut 20% or 2.8 Trillion dollars?
