Some personal experiences:
When I returned from Iraq, we contracted Ryan Air for the hop across the Atlantic. After 6 months in the world's biggest sausagefest, this is what was awaiting me on the trip home:

Another time, I had to fly "to an undisclosed location in the Middle East". Since this place had no GSA contract rate, we could buy whatever was available commerically, and we flew Gulf Air; a very "I Dream of Genie" vibe:
And then finally, you can't beat Virgin Airways when you have to spend 8 hours on a plane, it just makes the trip so much nicer. Branson is a genius. See the video at this link:
