Yet, Italian-Americans can proudly say they are Italian? Why can't we say "African?" I mean ... are we embarrassed, ashamed or something? We are indeed of African heritage and blood.
Black is inaccuate but it was called before brown. Now we can't say brown.

I had a Pakistan acquaintance once tell me she was a "brown person" while I'm "black person".

I was like whaaat?

Saying in my head "we're seriously the same shade of brown "

Some day maybe most people will realize that the only race designation that matters is the human race.

(Some day. )

I mean if African American is so offensive because of its alleged inaccuracy then why not do a way with the term white, after all, white people are exactly white or anything close to it. So, in the hopes of bringing about that much touted color blind society, I would like to make the following offer.

Do away with the idea or whiteness and I will stop identifying myself as an African American and ask others to do the same.

What do you think?
I think it's a flawed argument although I get where you're coming from.

Black American is better or just American. After all do we really have to use color to view each other? Or better yet human being made in the image of God.

I think your threads and posts are getting stranger by the day.

I do not think African-American is offensive in the least. Well maybe to an Arab or a Caucasian from North Africa.

Whatever. I think you share the same obsession as the cranks your are presumably addressing.

There was no equality before Affirmative Action. What changed things so radically?
