The President's Chief of Staff gives a brutal interview, complete with the "F" word, defending the president's excessive use of his executive orders/enforcement style of governing. Sounds like this administration is extremely frustrated and desperate.
"On the foreign policy-military side, you can act pretty quickly,” Daley says. “That is why the president, based upon frustration, is doing this ‘we can’t wait.’ He is going to every agency, every department, and saying, ‘What can you do on your own? What can we not have to wait for legislation to do?’ ”
The President of the United States is in an unprecedented position. Given the worst mess in history courtesy of the Republicans, his ingenious plans to resuscitate this country from those problems has been hampered by Republicans in a branch of the federal government who are only concerned about making the President fail, not help the country.
Again, the Republicans in Congress, members of a party only concerned about the rich, clueless on how to solve the problems which plague this nation, are unwilling to give the President of the United States their support, because they want him to fail. They want him to fail, so that they can again take over and show the country that they don't know what in God's name they are doing.
The President must use his Executive powers. He is incredibly effective when unhampered by such a pathetic element as the current Republican contiingent in Congress.

Now now, the President had two years of a Democratic house and Senate.
Can't cry "Republicans stopped" everything.
I think they have been obstructionists, because that was the mandate they got in the last election. But the message wasn't just to obstruct, it was to stop the practices that didn't create jobs, and back those that do. Republicans are saying no to almost everything, and some things that can create jobs.
That will be the downfall in the next election, I fear. The Presidents numbers are slowly creeping up. Its part of the reason why the Speaker of the House has started talking again. He had remained fairly silent. Letting the presidential nominees be the voice of the party. But that voice is looney toons, and its scaring voters.
For many voters, its a choice between the devil you know, and the one you dont.
A simple google will debunk most of this drivel.
You can't always believe what the voices on the radio tell you.
It pays to do your own simple research.

You're right. Obama does not need Congress. He has ways around Congress to even spend money (Libya) and make tax changes (student loans, home mortgages).
The power of the Executive Office .....
And the silence from Congress about all of this is deafening.
The point is, that many complain only when it suits their political needs. Did you Protest the Iraq and Afghanistan wars? When did congress declare war? They didn't. Authorizing funding for a military action is not a declaration of war, which the constitution calls for.
congress authorized the use of force in both cases.
Quote:
When President Bush signed an executive order ending federal funding on stem cell research for religious reasons, did you protest then?
bush did not end federal funding for stem cell research, he limited it to line already open.

They did not declare war. Before troops are sent, the constitution calls for a declaration of war.
Now, its been twisted to allow Presidents to really do whatever they want, but it started all the way back at the beginning. People complain about it when it suits them politically. You don't care about the real abuse of Presidential power, you care because it isn't your President.

the president can order troops into battle at any time he wishes as he is the commander in chief of the military. the war powers act did require the president to consult congress, and to get full congressional approval after 90 days. congress does not have to declare war for a president to send troops into action. again the war powers act does give the president leeway, and as much as i felt that obama was wrong to send our military into action in libya, he did have the power to do so.
