You sound like someone who has never lived in a town like Detroit. Most likely the kids got on and refused to pay or otherwise decided to cause ruckus, the driver tried to do their job by telling the kids they had to get off the bus, and rather than talk smack or get off like they would've in the old days, the kids beat the driver senseless.
