The police have to just Waite for you to stand up or run before they can take action.

Yea, I just robbed the bank but I'm sitting down and acting peacefully.
You can't do a thing to me.

To funny.
And you're just being absurd.

No one has ever suggested any such thing and you damn well know it.

Bull. They're allowed to say or chant any damn thing they wanted to the police, so long as they weren't inciting a riot, which they were not. Those officers were perfectly able to leave, SEEING AS HOW THEY DID SO IN SPITE OF THE SEATED STUDENTS.

Canadians might not be so tough and willing to get hurt as Americans are. I can tell you that from watching the original viral video that the students were trying to keep those guys penned up and used the sit down as a method of keeping them from going down that walk to get out of there. Maybe you have missed some of the activity but they were warned that they better get up, One girl in the video kept her head turned from the cop telling her to get out as if that would take his words away.

They deserved what they got and managed to sit there for a bit till he came back.

148. (a) (1) Every person who willfully resists, delays, or obstructs any public officer, peace officer, in the discharge or attempt to discharge any duty of his or her office or employment, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment.
So haul them off to jail and fine them. That's been agreed to over and over and over again here.

Every person who, by physical force and with the intent to prevent attendance or instruction, willfully obstructs or attempts to obstruct any student or teacher seeking to attend or instruct classes at any of the campuses or facilities owned, controlled, or administered by the Regents of the University of California, the Trustees of the California State University, or the governing board of a community college district shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500), by imprisonment in a county jail for a period of not exceeding one year, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

As used in this section, “physical force†includes, but is not limited to, use of one's person, individually or in concert with others, to impede access to, or movement within, or otherwise to obstruct the students and teachers of the classes to which the premises are devoted.

Blocking a sidewalk is a "physical force"
An individual who, while sitting or standing, has locked arms with another individual is not engaged in passive resistance but is engaged in proactive action to obstruct.
You missed the whole intent thing here. They weren't blocking the sidewalk with the intent to prevent students or teachers from attending classes.

And yes, that matters.

But even still, feel free to charge them with that, send 'em to jail if you want, and fine them the $500.

BUT YOU DON'T GET TO PEPPER SPRAY THEM DIRECTLY IN THEIR FACES.

Sure you do, they were warned and they got exactly what they asked for.

I'm officially done with the whole lot of you. Too lazy or stupid to read for comprehension. Continually misrepresent or ignore the arguments actually put forth. And continue to advocate for elevated use of force where it is not warranted, just because you have some sickening hatred for kids who want to be able to afford to educate themselves. It's despicable. Unsubscribing now.

So now that we disagree I have a nasty attitude

Those ADULTS made a choice to break more that one law. As cited earlier.
They escalated the situation as they engaged in proactive action to obstruct. It does not matter if they were sitting around singing Kumbaya or not.

Your opinion or mine it does not matter the law has spoken.

An individual who, while sitting or standing, has locked arms with another individual is not engaged in passive resistance but is engaged in proactive action to obstruct.
That is exactly what they did.
[/quote]

Actually, no. I've read many of your responses on this and other threads. The attitude comes through loud and clear.

And pepper spray was overkill and unwarranted in this situation.
