Where else do you think our society's mistreatment of gays/lesbians/whatevers comes from?
It's not ''mistreatment'' to voice disgust at a vile lifestyle. I don't mistreat barbarians, but I detest their ways!!
How trite is it to boycott a restaurant, simply because the owners live and stand for their marvelous Christian life with action?! I've NEVER seen a finer place of business than ChickFilA. They are such an asset and EXAMPLE of goodness and generosity.
Did it really take 105 pages of posts to get a reasonable response? Well, that doesn't surprise me.
Election year derangement syndrome. You can start a topic about ANYTHING around here right now and generate pages of partisan bickering and name-calling. Same idiots every time. Same arguments. Same, same, same.....the other guys are blind, they are hypocrites, they are racist, they are socialist....blah blah blah.
Chick-Fil-A consistenly ranks as one of the best fast food chains to eat at & work for. Just like In-N-Out, they treat their employees very well. Its no wonder Chick-Fil-A is one of the fastest growing frachises in America.
Correction: ...WAS one of the fastest growing franchises in America.
On August 1st I'm going to be joining scores, maybe hundreds, of Drexel University students in a rally outside Chik-Fil-A, to get that place kicked off the campus. There already is a student organization dedicated to that objective.

Then I hope you will forgive me if I voice my disgust at your vile bigoted opinions. I do not mistreat ignorant and prejudiced people but I detest their ways.
I speak out against bigots. All bigots: racists, anti-semites, and homophobes.

Wow, you guys are so accepting and tolerant of people/organizations with differing viewpoints! You must be so proud....
Of course. But what good is your speech when it's regarding a privately-owned fast food chain. You're just wasting your breath. You have no say so in their business. They have their values and I condone them for continuing in believing in them.
Someone not caring enough to listen does not mean I shouldn't try. I want to educate, to make this world a better place. It is the moral thing to do. I know that anyone can claim moral superiority, but I've presented evidence to support my stance, while the other side has not.
And I only condone people believing in (and especially promoting) an opinion for good reason, preferably if it's supported by facts rather than false/unverifiable assumptions and claims.

Not everyone is like the anti-gay crowd, wanting to hurt people (as in trying to discriminate against them). Some people, like me, speak out only to affect positive change in society. For the sake of my son, I will always speak out against unjustified intolerance and ignorance. The alleged harm of homosexuality has yet to be identified specifically (much less factually confirmed), but the harm of unfounded intolerance is well-documented throughout history.

It has nothing to do with engaging with people with a different point of view.
This business is donating millions of dollars to take the civil rights away from a minority group. That is something we cannot tolerate. It's not a freedom of speech issue ... it's about a campaign to defame and disenfranchise a community of citizens.
There is no law that states Drexel University has to provide space to Chik-Fil-A when other businesses would gladly rent that space on their campus.
If Burger King donated money to a racist organization, if Subway donated money to an anti-semitic organization, I would boycott those businesses as well. We do NOT have to "tolerate" prejudice, discrimination, or militant religious agendas.

When will YOU PEOPLE get it through your thick skulls that valuing tolerance DOES NOT MEAN you have to tolerate bigotry and hateful points of view?
I do not tolerate people who think women should be second class citizens or covered from head to toe in Burkas. I do not tolerate or respect opinions of those who think gays do not deserve equal rights.... etc. etc. etc.
Chick-fil-A crosses the line by ACTIVELY FUNDING hate groups who spend their time attacking gays. That's more than the owners simply having a point of view that you may disagree with.
If I lived near Drexel University I would make it a point to start eating there. I am all for people's right to live and believe as they choose - all people, including the owner of Chik-fil-a. If someone boycotted your privately owned business because you supported gay rights I would feel the same way.
