Marriage is about forming families. If you have a sister or brother, you are already in a family with that person. If you are already married to someone, you don't need to marry a third person in order to form a family.
It's quite simple, really.
No, it's quite self serving. Who gave you the authority to define marriage as "about forming families"?
And Bloomberg is the guy trying to tell you what size soda you can have, so that gives you a good idea of how off in space Emanuel and Menino and the other guys were.

Then what is the purpose of marriage? And please note that you can't say "procreation," unless you would deny marriage to infertile and/or elderly couples.
rebel12, earlier, in response to my saying this...
You said this...
...and I asked you to provide scripture that supports the argument that the sin of homosexuality is even worse than breaking one of the Ten Commandments, because I'd never heard of a Christian opposing marriage involving people who work on the Sabbath day.
You never responded. Would you?
Actually Christians believe sin is sin is sin, and no one sin is worse than any others. Perhaps the poster is Catholic in which they believe there are mortal sins that cannot be forgiven. For most Christians, any sin is wrong and bad and should be repented.

And I'd like an explanation from you too, as to why this one group of "sinners" is the only one not worthy of the right to marry or adopt. It's certainly not biblical, that homosexuality is worse than all the other sins. Must mean you came up with that degree of prejudice all on your own, eh?
It's a way of life for these people. According to them, it's part of who they are. Thus, the sin cannot be extricated from the person, or so I'm told by them since they are all up in arms about it not being a lifestyle or a choice. I see none of them saying they are trying to repent of their homosexuality.
