Why is social upward mobility higher in Europe than in America?
Doesn't America think Europe is a bunch of Socialist with a bloated welfare state that doesn't get anything done?
Why is it easier in Europe to go from poor to the middle class than in America?
Isn't Free Market Capitalism supposed to be superior to Social Market Capitalism?

Try looking at labor laws as a start. The two are vastly different. Workers are more protected in Europe than here.

But that's interference of Government into the private sector. Isn't it better if Government gets out of the way, and let the market regulate itself?

What ? Where are you going with this ?
What does that have to do with your question ?
You asked "why" and I gave you an answer.

The US and European governments are structured totally different.
You're trying to compare apples to oranges here and I'm not biting.

So you already knew the answer. Just come out with a post stating your preference..not posing a baiting question.

It wasn't a baiting question. So do you think that America should implement some labor laws that would protect the average worker as well?e
I think America should stop treating their workers like cap and borderline slaves.

This is a huge right wing myth here in the USA.

Ask any right winger why Americans should endure less pay and benefits and part of his story will be the trade off is more opportunities from hard work and applying yourself.

No bashing hard work, but that hard work will get your farther in these so called "welfare states" than here.

The premise of the article is someone's dramatic fantasy, targeted to a receptacle for such ramblings, whose point is that life in Europe is superior to the USA based on a political system.

The premise presents a myopic perspective to exclude any non partisan or broadbased discussion. This is an example of preaching to the Huff post choir.

Why is social upward mobility higher in Europe than in America?

What????????????

What the heck is social mobility and what does that have to do with anything except an individual's motivation?
Is social mobility the first thing anyone thinks of when they awaken?
Possession of designer sneakers give social mobility.

Ask some lazy sot if they feel oppresssed socially and economically and the answer will be yes and the basis for selling an article to, let's see...how about the Huff post?

According to you someone who isn't successful is lazy.

Ask some lazy sot if they feel oppresssed socially and economically and the answer will be yes and the basis for selling an article to, let's see...how about the Huff post?
Here is the direct link to the study.

Obstacles to social mobility weaken equal opportunities and economic growth, says OECD study

But I guess to you the OECD must be a liberal Think Tank as well.
Social mobility has to do with motivation of course. That's the basis. The fact is though that motivation will get you further in over a half dozen European countries than in America.
But keep spewing the nonsense that if someone isn't successful that it's all their fault.

According to a 2008 Pew Research Center survey on intergenerational mobility, two out of three Americans who describe themselves as middle class rate their standard of living as better than that of their parents.
Ooops.
