Yes, but 2/3s of them Conservatives view as evil and hell bound, and the other 3rd are godless heathens and hell bound.

ok, but what is the relevance of classical music for the last 50 years? Maybe it's delightful for those old aristocrats who attend operas in Milan, Bayreuth or the New Year concert in Vienna.

So true.

I am fine with an individual having whatever beliefs they like, the problem is when you try to shove them down other's throats. That certainly violates the principles the US were founded on.

Eastern Europe in a lot of ways is rather 3rd world. It's night and day compared to Western Europe.

The relevance of classical music is bordering 0 for the last 50 years. But you compare a culture of 300 years with a culture of 2000 years. Plus classical music has a enormous worldwide fan base. The reason many Europeans think we are uncultured is because we don't have a national, ethnic identity like they do. So we don't really have a culture to them. We consist of many other cultures.

A lot of people comment in American political forums that the politics of the country must be good because just look at the historical success of the country. That is completely faulty reasoning. I would say that the success of the Republic is because of completely different reasons and that the country succeeded dispite the terrible political system and horrible political whores who make it up.

There is very little political "Public service" in the country and most politicians are in politics for "self serving" reasons. There are very few American politicians who do not end up as very wealthy people. There is nothing wrong with wealth per se but there is when it is being made in politics.

The adoption of the Constitution of the United States is a tremendously lauded political accomplishment.

The allowance of slavery, the Civil War, and Reconstruction are monumental political failures.

Civil Rights are a great political (and legal) achievement.

Politicians cannot and should not be given sole credit for this nation's achievements, but they cannot and should not solely be blamed for this nation's terrible mistakes.

Politics are ugly. There's no denying that.

Ugliness can accomplish beautiful things, though.
