strange, I know people that are gay and lesbian that do not think homosexuals should be allowed to marry, including my daughter.
So? I also know straight people who think we should be fertilized after one baby... do you agree with that, just because they do? Not everyone of the same demographic shares their opinions, ya know.
look, to me it does not matter. I dont believe that the federal or state goverments should be involved with marriages at all.
civil unions yes, as that is a court matter. but marriages are the pervue of the church, not goverment.
If civil unions came with ALL the benefits of marriage, I imagine many gay people would be okay with that... but they simply don't, as it stands today.
Regardless, marriages have never (in modern times) required a church, and churches will never be required to perform gay marriages. Why not let the churches/temples/etc decide for themselves, and leave it at that? My synagogue is gay-friendly, as are many churches around here, but there are also some that aren't - so they already have a choice in the matter, and legalizing it federally wouldn't change that detail. If you're proposing we make marriage a religious term, and define all other marriages as civil unions, that's a whole different can of worms... and I'm curious how the straight Atheists would feel about it?
I've never thought about the meaning of life, actually. I'm not religious, not spiritual. I find the concept of a god or higher power meant for those with low IQs and who wet the bed at the thought of death.
Actually, those who truly believe in a god or higher power are less afraid of death. Because they believe that our real life is on the Other Side. Our lives on Earth are just a fraction of time compared to an eternity on the Other Side (also known as Heaven).

Yet so many spend so much of that 'fraction of time' bearing false witness against their neighbours and trying to dehumanize them by reducing them down to just sex acts.
How curious.
How do they expect to get to "Heaven" when they are constantly breaking one of Christ's greatest commandments?
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be on them.

That pretty much says it all. God really doesn't like homosexuality. The New Testament frees us from the law, and the death penalty, but it doesn't change God's intense dislike of homosexuality.
