Being an obnoxious practicioner of a right doesn't make one a defender of it.

What are you afraid of all 10 members?? Mostly family

They can't even get others to follow, you really need to pull yourself together.
Why dont you knock it off with the insults, and make a concerted effort to be concise?
Thats gotta be a stretch for you, but I bet if you stopped spewing right-wing hyperbole in your posts, others just might be able to discern just exactly what it is you are attempting to say.
Oh wait, nevermind.

If they really have to protest and spew their hateful messages, there are plenty of other places for them to do so where they won't be causing additional pain and suffering to people who are already in pain and are just trying to bury their dead.
I can see it as a good showing of just how tolerant we are of idiocy in this nation. That, as long as you are peaceful, then you can say whatever whackamole idea pops into your head.

I do know that there have been stories, all be it not confirmed, of terrorist groups using Westboro rhetoric as a means of recruiting in the Middle East. But I think if they were shown the whole story, how 99% of Amreicans think they are disgusting individuals who are really doing nothing much but taking up space and making asses of themselves, but we don't violently attack them, we don't arrest them for peaceful protest, and that they are free to spew their bile, that all and all, its proves the point that we are a tolerant people who can put up with almost anything.

I'll fly back from Alaska, dress like Divine, sing Ethel Merman songs and hold up a sign saying "Fred Phelps buggered me and all I got was this dress" at his funeral.

What they are doing is awful. I really wish they wouldn't do it. It makes Christians and those opposed to the immorality of homosexuality look bad. But they have the Constitutional right to do it .

That's all well and good, but picketing a funeral is a form of harassment. Not only is it harassment, but it is harassment of emotionally distraught and vulnerable people who deserve some kind of protection from that vileness.

If WBC want to take their protest to Capitol Hill or anywhere else, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Most people will just ignore them anyway and their First Amendment rights could be exercised without them crossing the line.

Freedom of speech is an odd thing anyway. Much of the time, we don't even have it in our day to day lives. I can't strike up a conversation with a colleague about politics or religion as I would most likely get in trouble.

I think that yes they have the right to say what they want, but the expression "If you can't say something nice, keep your mouth shut." comes to mind.
