The Republicans have done nothing but criticize Obama for withdrawing our troops from Iraq and they will criticize him again when he gets our guys out of Afghanisan........... Bush got our guys killed for no reason (except oil and to revenge his dad's failure to get Saddam) and now Our President is bringing our troops home...........
One would really have to work to get any more b*****-ackwards than that. Democrats did nothing but scream at Bush over Iraq, after being right there on the same page with him prior to the invasion.
Then a Democrat executes the withdrawal that was arranged for and scheduled by W Bush, and Democrats take all the credit for 'bringing our troops home.' Nice.
You know, it's one thing to play partisan politics over green jobs or other pork, but when people play partisan games over war policy, that is really loathesome.

Obama has always said that Afghanistan and Pakistan were our problems not Iraq......Obama was not in the Senate at the time of the vote but opposed the war from the start Oct. 2. 2002 Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama gives speech opposing the war in Iraq. He said he did not oppose "all wars," but he opposed "dumb wars," and wanted to finish the job against al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden rather than start a new war in Iraq. He predicted that "even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences."

The only reason Bush laid out a withdrawal plan was because he could not get his $87billion bill to fund the war passed and Obama insisted that Congress should hold the funding until George Bush presented a plan for withdrawal and also funds for investment in American schools and infrastructure at least comparable to what the US wanted to spend in Iraq.

Bush didn't really have a war policy...... he didn't even have a withdrawal strategy. This war in Iraq was not needed, not wanted and not succesful.

Obama is not bringing our troops home, he's sending a whole lot of them to Afghanistan and whether or not one supports this war, you cannot possibly agree with him putting these guys in harms way and then taking the side of the Islamic fanatics who are killing them.
If Obama does not support the military which he clearly does not, ALL our guys need to be brought home immediately. He's trying his darndest to get them killed now by making apologies for them, implying the Islamic fanatics should kill them over what two soldiers did.
Obama is making it very clear that Islamics have the right to desecrate and burn our Flag, they can burn Bibles to their little hearts' content, they can kill our soldiers but their hate-speech book can not be touched. No freedom of speech issue there.

You ignore the fact that Obama voted to continue the Iraq War numerous time under Bush. He voted for over $300 billion dollars to fuel the Iraq War as he entered the Senate in 2005. Lets not forget that the Obama administration fought to prolong the occupation past the deadline set under the Bush administration. For more evidence that the administration actually wanted to extend the troop presence in Iraq, despite today's words by Obama and McDonough, one only has to look at the statements of Defense Secretary Leon Panetta.
In July, Panetta urged Iraqi leaders to, "Dammit, make a decision" about the U.S. troop extension. In August, he told reporters that, "My view is that they finally did say, ‘Yes.'"
